CHAPTER 2

"So... you recently came from Japan?"

"Nae, I'm an... exchange student."

Eunbi glanced up from resume in front of her, gazing at the young brown-haired girl.

"It looks like you can't speak Korean that well yet."

"Ah- Mianhae-yo... I'm learning right now... B-but I can make bread well!"

The girl stuttered as she mixed in Japanese with Korean, the older woman stifling a chuckle as she thought the younger girl was adorable.

"It's alright, and that job is really needed since our last one left a couple days ago..."

Eunbi smiled, "what is your schedule like?"

"I have classes in the... evening, starting from... five."

"Every weekday?"

"N-nae."

"Hmm... Do you think you can come around six in the morning every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday? I won't let you work on the weekdays since you'll be a part-timer, and school is more important."

The girl blinked, confusingly uttering the days of the week said in Korean.

"Oh um..."

Eunbi glanced around, spotting an older worker walking past them, "Namjoon-ssi!"

The man stopped and turned around, "yes?"

"You know Japanese right?"

"Yes, I do."

"What's Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in Japanese?"

The employee glanced over to the Japanese girl, smiling and reiterating the days Eunbi suggested to her.

Eunbi thanked Namjoon, the man nodding before going his own way.

"So, can you?"

"Nae, I can."

The employer smiled, "that's great, we can start this Friday. And if you'd like, we have a few Japanese speakers here... I can ask if they can teach you some Korean during free time."

"R-really?"

Eunbi nodded, "yes, not only will it be beneficial to you here, but you'll need it for school too."

The girl grinned as she stood up to bow, "thank you so much."

The woman stood up with a smile, "of course, welcome to the cafe team, and also Korea, Hitomi."

"This cafe's owner is Kwon Eunbi, correct?"

Chaewon stared at the brown-haired woman in front of her, "yes, and you are this cafe's VIP customer, correct?"

The girl took a bite of the bread she bought as she nodded her head, "yeah I am. I've seen you around a lot... Chaewon-ssi."

"And as the cashier I've seen you a lot too, so how can I help you?"

The woman smiled, sticking out her hand, "I'm Kang Hyewon, 8D Creative College senior and photography major."

Chaewon startled from the sudden introduction, glancing down at her hand before hesitantly shaking it, "Kim Chaewon... Woollim College sophomore..."

"Ah I'm older than you, so can I drop the formalities?"

"Uhhh sure, but why are you introducing yourself?"

The older girl shrugged, "it's a pleasure to formally meet you Chaewon. And I'm here for an interview with your boss."

"An interview?"

Hyewon nodded, "I... Or well, we would like to interview Kwon Eunbi, she's an alumni from your college, yes?"

"Yeah she is..."

"If she is free, can we interview her now? Someone from our college's newspaper team is here too."

Chaewon blinked a few times, letting the information sink in, "why would people from 8D Creative want to interview someone from another college?"

Hyewon chuckled, "we're pretty much friends with Woollim College, partners even."

The younger girl slowly nodded, glancing behind her to another worker, "hey, can you see if Eunbi-unnie's free?"

The employee nodded, disappearing into the staff's only room.

"Please wait a moment. If you aren't going to buy anything else I have to ask you to wait outside the line."

Hyewon glanced at the people who were waiting behind her, sheepishly smiling before grabbing her food and drink, walking over to another girl who was waiting near the entrance.

Chaewon began to take a few orders, feeling a tap on her shoulder when she finished with the line.

"You need something Chaewon-ah?"

The girl jumped and turned around, gesturing with her head to Hyewon, "a couple of people are here from 8D Creative College. Said they wanted to interview you if you had time."

Eunbi raised an eyebrow, glancing over to see the two girls smiling at her.

"Alright, thanks Chaewon."

Chaewon nodded, going back to her job as Eunbi walked up to the girls while untying her apron.

"Hello, I heard you asked for me?"

Hyewon grinned and bowed alongside her friend, "yes, we'd like an interview with you, Miss Kwon."

Eunbi nodded, "we can do it at the back of the cafe if you'd like?"

The other girl smiled, "yes, that's okay."

The three women headed to the back of the cafe, Hyewon taking out a camera from her bag as the other got her pen and paper ready.

"Oh and, I'm Kang Hyewon, senior at 8D Creative."

"And I'm Yu Minyoung, also a senior at the same college. Hyewon is in photography while I'm in journalism."

Eunbi smiled, "nice to meet you both."

"May I take a picture of you before we start?"

"Ah yes, of course."

The raven-haired girl smiled, Hyewon steadying the camera in her hands before a subtle click could be heard.

"Thank you Eunbi-ssi, you look pretty in the picture."

The older woman startled from the sudden compliment, "o-oh... Thank you."

Minyoung rolled her eyes, "sorry, she does that often."

Hyewon glared at her, "no I don't."

The small bicker made Eunbi laugh, "it's okay, I was just caught off guard."

The youngest of the three began to interview Eunbi, a few laughs here and there as the series of questions were answered by the eldest...
