(A/N: My apologies for the last chapter.)

The next few days were the worst. Once you had gotten home from the hospital you were practically bed bound, still healing and in constant pain in every way.

Spencer was trying his best to help but he was grieving too, just as much as you and you felt bad every time he would jump up to do things for you.

Your dad was still staying with you but of course he was also devastated. Emily had been family; to you and Spencer, but for you it was your whole family who was missing Emily's light.

———

It had been 5 weeks since you had lost Emily and Reuben and you and Spencer seemed to be coping surprisingly well. You had lost your mother and Spencer had been through hell and back before, but you couldn't help but feel like the two of you weren't really dealing with your grief but ignoring it.

You had had the funeral for both of them a few days apart so you didn't need to prolong the inevitable but it had been completely draining on both of you as well as the team who had been practically bending over backwards trying to help. Penelope, Rossi and Derek had all been bringing over food for you all and Hotch had been bringing you arts and crafts that Jack had made for you both which were pinned up all over the house.

Neither of you had even opened the nursery door since you got back home and Spencer had gone back to work and you were getting ready to go back too.

Your dad had been trying to convince you to take some more time off work but you needed to be doing something other than moping in bed and binging terrible daytime television.

"Honey, I really don't think you should be going back tonight." Your dad shouted up the stairs to you while you got ready to leave for the hospital.

"Dad It's been a month."

"You're only proving my point Y/N." He shouted back and you heard footsteps coming up the stairs, followed by your dad standing in the doorway with a sympathetic look on his face.

"Don't give me that look dad. I'll be fine."

"Fine isn't good enough." He replied and sat on the edge of your bed while you were stood at the mirror tying your hair up in a messy bun.

"I need to get back to some level of normalcy, and going back to work is part of that. Spence went back and he's coping much better than I am. I need to at least try."

Your dad sighed but with a twinge of a smile, "I would say I'd drive you, but I don't have my licence out here." He joked and you sat down on the bed next to him.

"I love you dad."

"Love you too sweet pea."

You got to the hospital and went straight to the resident common room instead of doing your usual rounds of saying hello to all the nurses and staff you bumped into. Even though you thought were fine, you still didn't want all of the 'I'm so sorry Y/N''s and 'You're so strong for even being here.''s. You'd had your fill.

You walked into the common room to find just 3 of your fellow interns, including Philip, instead of the usual hustle and bustle.

Simultaneously, they all looked up at you and met you with sad eyes, "Don't!" You said abruptly, raising an eyebrow and walking to your cubby.

"We just want you to know-"

"I know. It's awful. I know, I was there. Can we just treat this like a normal shift?" You asked, putting your bag away and getting out your scrubs. You looked over to where your colleagues stood and they all nodded unwillingly and you resumed getting ready.
