It had been 2 weeks since Emily had come back from the dead and you hadn't spoken to her once. She had been calling you 4 times a day unless the team were working a case in which case it was usually twice a day. Spencer had almost come to terms with the while situation but was having a tough time at forgiving JJ for not telling him. You also thought deep down he might blame JJ and Hotch for Reuben's death as they knew Emily was alive and instead of sparring you both the pain of losing your child, they kept it to themselves. You also blamed them a bit, but you also knew that they didn't have a choice.

You had decided to engross yourself into work, trying not even to think about Emily. It wasn't even the fact that Emily had lied about dying, it was that in her doing that you had lost your son. You didn't blame her at all, that wasn't the issue, how was she supposed to know your heartbreak over her could lead to what happened? It was just a lot to process, and you didn't know how to process it.

One day while Spencer was away on a case you got a call from Penelope,

"Hey P." You answered the phone while you ate your lunch at work,

"Hey girl genius, how are you doing?" Her voice was sympathetic but you weren't really in the mood for it,

"What's up Penelope?"

"Rossi is having a cooking class at his house when the team get back from this case and I really want you and Reid to come."

"Why wouldn't Spencer be going?" You asked, but you didn't need to as you already knew the answer,

"Because JJ will be there, will you come? You know Reid can't say no to you."

"I'm not going to make Spence do anything he doesn't want to do, and to be honest Pen, I don't know if I even want to go." You replied but were met with silence,

"I just think you should think about it? Maybe talk to Reid about it?"

"I'll think about it."

"Okay sugar."

You hung up the phone and pushed your lunch around your plate with your fork. You looked at the time, 1:37pm. Spencer was only in Oklahoma so it was only an hour back and as it was the middle of the day he would no doubt be busy, so you sent him a text so he could reply when he had time.

[You]

Hey, Spence, Penelope just rang
me and mentioned Rossi's cooking
class. She wants us to go, can we
talk? I don't know how I feel. Love
you xx

You put your phone away and suddenly you weren't hungry anymore so you got up and left the cafeteria to go back to your patients.

A few hours later Spencer text you back,

[Spencer]

Hey, Y/N, sorry I didn't tell you, I
just didn't think I'd be going. Phone
date at 10:30 your time? Love you too xx

[You]

Sounds like a plan xx

You got home from work around 8 that evening and decided to have a bath after dinner before you called Spencer. You filled the tub with bubbles and bath salts that you seldom used as baths were usually too time consuming on your tight schedule.

As you laid in the bath you couldn't help but stare at the scar on your stomach from your crash C-section you had had a few months earlier. You gently put your index finger to the scar and softly grazed your finger over it, and you began to cry. You held your stomach with one hand and held your head in the other, rubbing your thumb on your stomach. You had lost your baby and your best friend in one day and now you had a chance to get one of them back, and you were botching it.
