Note: No worries, the mythical creatures are coming in the next chapter. I'm just skimming through half of New Moon in one chapter

I tried to shake off Jungkook's comment while I was over at the Black's. I hadn't known that the Jeon's lived nearby. Surely, I would have known, wouldn't I?

Jacob had looked for new parts while I was away. We were using the funds that I was supposed to use for college, but with the number of rejection letters I was getting, it seems like I might end up in community college.

We weren't alone today. Embry and Quil were there, curious about why Jacob couldn't hang out with them. The two dark-skinned boys, both with the same hair length as Jacob, looked like deers stuck in headlights when I arrived with a box of pizza.

Jacob at least looked embarrassed. "Quil, Embry – this is Bella."

"Charlie's kid," one of them stuck out their hand. "I'm Quil Ateara."

"I'm Embry!" I noted how Quil was a lot brawnier than Embry. "What are you doing here?"

"We are fixing bikes."

Bike was the magic word and the three boys huddled around our project, drilling Jacob with questions on what they could do. I heard words I didn't understand, and I felt a pang of sadness knowing that there wasn't really anything I was passionate about. What do I do with my day either than do my homework and the chores?

"We are boring you, aren't we?" Jacob apologies. I shook my head.

"No, I'm good. You're just very passionate."

"What does Jacob get from fixing your bike," Embry asked curiously.
"Riding lessons."

Quil grinned at Embry and whispered something that I couldn't catch, but with the way Jacob smacked the back of Quil's head I could only assume what it was. The two boys left, saying that they would come over later for the BBQ.

I hadn't been aware that there was going to be a BBQ. But Billy had invited Charlie without telling me. All of Charlie's close friends would be there.  We had to hide the bikes when the sun started to set, and it wasn't long until everyone arrived.

"Hey kid!" Charlie said. "Did you have fun with Jacob?"

"You ask that as though we were 14-year-old."
"You're still kids," Charlie shrugged. "There's a big game tonight. Want to watch or do you want to head home?"

I eyed the crowd of people that were setting up. It wouldn't hurt to stay around. It would mean spending more time with Jacob and with my dad. I don't care about baseball or whatever it is that they watch, but I could at least make an effort.

That night I was too tired to even dream. I wasn't sure what shocked me more – the lack of dreaming or the lack of screaming.

As promised, Jungkook had left a USB stick in our postbox with a sticky note that had a smiley on it. I rolled my eyes but found it endearing.

For the old woman who hates technology – you stick it into the USB port

"Anything good?" Charlie was nursing his second cup of coffee that morning. I shook my head.

"Nothing from the universities."

"Isn't it a little bit too early? You haven't even graduated yet."

"A preliminary acceptance can't hurt," I grimaced. "I got a rejection from Washington."
