I never really lied to so many people. Some of the royals stayed. Two of them were Princess Cadence and her mother. The king had left to probably take care of royal matters. I wanted to smack my head onto one of the pillars.
Prince Gabriel and I appeared after some of the royals that had left were gone outside the castle walls.
It was after dinner and we appeared together out in the garden joining the others who were looking out to the sunset disappearing behind the lake.
It was beautiful. The view was making me feel so relaxed and I closed my eyes, feeling the familiar warmth of the sun. I was always inside the castle nowadays. I opened my eyes. Even though the view was beautiful, the people that I was watching it with gave me a feeling of intimidation.
Prince Gabriel took my arm. "Lie with me," he whispered.
I nodded.
His hand went down my arm and then held my hand, fingers intertwined. I immediately felt self conscious. He would feel my callused hand and I thought no cream at all would help soothe it to the hands of a born princess.
I put up a smile when one of the royals turned around, in this case it was Queen of Aracell. I knew her name but I simply had forgotten it.
It all went so slow. She gasped and tugged her daughter to turn around. King Gavin and Queen Keira heard their gasps and turned around to look at us.
As Prince Gabriel and I walked down to join them, a thought came into mind. There was a strong possibility that my husband would be the prince. I never would have thought there would be a strong possibility. I thought there was no possibility at all since I was a born peasant.
Prince Gabriel seemed to have thought about this, too. I would ruin his life, his pure, royal bloodline just like the Queen predicted if he chose me. It looked like that but I kept hoping for the fact that maybe he would let me go with a false broken heart.
I remembered back to what the Queen had said the night before the ball. You're my son's punishment. I swallowed. When it's over with you, he would see what he was missing. He would finally appreciate the luxury of the lines of princesses that would love to become his bride.
He could still save his bloodline. I wanted to tell him what his mother told me but would I still be let go? Would it change things?
Though, if I told him everything what his mother said that night, would she somehow find out and punish me? She did said there would be consequences. I wanted to scream but all I could do was smile.
"What is this?" Princess Cadence's mother asked.
"This," he gestured to me, "Queen Alena, is my possible bride."
I'm too late.
Princess Cadence stood up, she looked at Prince Gabriel and then at me, her eyes darkening.
"Son, have you finally found your match in her?" King Gavin asked.
Prince Gabriel looked at me before turning back to his father. "Yes, I have. Everything I have been looking for."
This was it.
I was not going back home.
Prince Gabriel was not going to let me go.
All because he couldn't stand anyone laughing at him any longer.
I could see my escape being taken away from me.
But all I could do was to lie along. If I ran now, my family would be facing the consequences.
"Gabriel, is this true?" Queen Keira asked. She genuinely looked surprised. She never would have thought her son would give me a chance.
