"It was so unbelievable!"
I was back in the kitchen with Camilla, Brody and Levi. I was helping them clean around as dinner was just over.
I snuck away once everyone started to leave, making sure no one saw. There were guards everywhere but when Princess Cadence came out, all eyes were on her.
I never been so glad for her presence.
I ran over here to tell my new friends about my thoughts on Prince Gabriel. I told them that he could possibly care about me.
"Well dear, his Highness is very mysterious," Camilla said as she wiped the table with a worn cloth.
"I wonder what he was like when he was younger." I spotted a basket of fresh strawberries on the table and I had to eat one. I could never enjoy them back home when we had inventory to take care of. I wonder how my family was doing without me.
Well I'm coming home soon.
"Well he was different before all the girls kept coming in, I tell you that," Levi said as he put his broom away in a corner.
"How?" I asked as I wiped my hands on my dress. Yikes! My dressers would be furious! A old habit of mine. Ugh.
"Over the time we've been here, we known the prince always had his nose stuck in a book," Brody said. "His Highness has always been studying, preparing himself to be king one day and he loved to do whatever princes enjoy doing."
"Sounds like a huge responsibility," I commented. "So how is he different from back then?"
"He tries to be more focus on his books but with the princesses coming every now and then, we all can see him getting distracted and uptight. I never saw a boy frown so much." Levi walked over to the table and pulled out a stool from under the table and sat down. "Those princesses are sure wearing him out."
"Well dear, why in the sudden interest in his Highness?" Camilla asked.
I mentally scolded myself. They don't know why I was here. "Can you all keep a secret?"
They all nodded.
"Promise?"
"We promise," they all chorused back.
I took a deep breath. "The truth is that I was brought here to catch his heart. That's the sole reason for me being here."
Three pair of wide eyes stared back at me. Three pairs of very surprised wide eyes indeed. Should I have confessed?
"Say something, please," I said, trying so hard to not beg.
"Are you a princess then?" Brody asked.
"What, no! I'm a peasant," I said.
"That explains it!" Camilla exclaimed.
"Explains what?" I asked.
"Your warm kindness," she replied.
At that I had to smile. "Thank you."
"So you said you were brought here, correct?" Levi asked. "Was it by force?"
After that I explained everything to them from the day I was taken away to now. I left once I have explained myself. They promised a second time to keep my secret.
I left earlier than I expected, just in case Prince Gabriel finds me again. I did not want to cross him at all. I don't need any more coldness.
I walked into the drawing room, regretting it the moment I stepped in. I couldn't walk out since they fastened their pretty judgmental eyes on me.
