Princess Cadence waited till the maid had served some tea and left the room. The people in the room other than us were the guards.

I put my hands together. I mentally prepared myself, trying to build a shield within me so that anything she would say would not hurt me.

I am strong.

My mantra would help me.

Princess Cadence took her first sip and then set her cup onto the table.

"Aren't you going to take a sip of your tea, Ezra?" She asked.

"I much rather hear what you want to tell me. I am tired." Princess Cadence's eyebrow arched a bit at my response.

"Very well. It has come to my attention that you are not what everybody thinks you are, tell me, are you really a peasant and not some noble girl?"

"I don't know why this interests you, your Highness but if you must know, yes I am a peasant."

"I must be honest, I really thought you were a noble girl. You had everyone fooled!" She laughed.

"That was the purpose," I said.

"So the Queen brought you here to make her son fall for you? But how's that possible?"

"I refused to answer that question. It is very personal."

"Same answer as Gabriel's." She frowned a bit. "You two are practically the same."

Interesting.

"Who's more in love with each other, you or him?" She asked, her frown going deeper.

"What kind of question is that?" I asked, pretending to be offended. "I dare say, I'm quite embarrassed for you."

I stood up and she followed.

"I am very impressed, Ezra."

"What?"

"You speak very well. Kind of like us. You sound like us."

"Do you honestly believe that we peasants can't speak correctly?" I asked, now truly offended.

"Yes." Her frowned disappeared. "I thought that they talked in their own improper ways. I mean can they all really read?"

I balled my hands but kept my face calmed. "I have to go, thank you for the nice chat."

I left without curtsying to her.

At noon, the next day a knock was at my door. My maids quickly fit the last curl with its lavender ribbon before walking over to the door. Elena opened it while Penny stood besides her.

I walked over to the guard at the doorway.

"Yes?"

"Miss Ezra, you have been given more lessons. They will start tonight in the library."

More lessons? I remembered back to what the Queen said about getting more lessons. If he shows of any interest in you in the first few weeks, you will be receiving lessons. I pursed my lips.

"Of course, thank you. Uh before you go, may I ask who had given me lessons?"

"Her Majesty, Miss Ezra."

"Hmm, okay, thank you."

Elena shut the door and then both her and Penny started to congratulate me.

"You finally did it, Ezra! You finally made him fall for you!"

"Very well done, Ezra!"

I sat on the chair and groaned which stopped their congratulations.
