The next morning, I called in sick again. I had a nightmare! I had a dream that Prince Gabriel and I were both in love. It was terrible!
When it became noon, my maids prepared a hot bath for me. I got off my bed and at the same time there was a knock at my door.
Elena came out of the bathroom and I quickly ran to her.
"If it's Prince Gabriel, tell him I'm in the bath."
"But Miss Ezra, the bath isn't ready yet," she explained.
"Just do it!" I whispered.
I then quickly ran over to the bathroom and hid behind its door. Penny saw me as she threw something into the water that smelled good.
"Oh Ezra, what are you doing here?" she asked.
I shushed her.
Through the crack I saw Elena opening the door wide opened. I held my breath.
Then my heart leaped and I gasped.
"Oh your Highness." Elena curtsied. "Is there anything you need?"
"Yes," Prince Gabriel said. "Is Miss Ezra available? I need to speak with her."
"Oh I'm sorry your Highness, I'm afraid to tell you that she's in the bath."
"Oh," Prince Gabriel said. His eyes moved over to the half opened door and I moved away from the crack. I hoped he didn't saw me. "Well when she gets out, please tell her that I need to speak with her and meet me...at my room."
His room? What the-
"Your room? Um of course!" Elena said, startled by the location.
Well she wasn't alone.
I must declined. I moved to see through the crack.
"Thank you. Before I go, is she all right?"
"Well she's not feeling too well lately. She didn't want to eat last night and this morning she certainly didn't had an appetite. Don't worry, she is in the bath and a warm one at that. She'll get better soon, your Highness."
Thanks for the help, Elena.
"I see," he said. "If she does not come down, I will risk my health and come here myself."
I gaped at his determination. How rude....
"But your Highness, you can't get sick too!" Elena argued.
"I will if I have to, now if you excuse me." He stepped back and left.
Elena shut the door and I came out of my hiding place.
"Elena! You were supposed to make me sound like I was going to be sick all day!" I cried.
Elena put both hands on her hips. "My my, Miss Ezra, what has gotten into you? His Highness is interested in you. I never seen him try so hard. Why are you acting like this?"
I threw my hands in the air, exasperated. "Because I don't want to love him!"
"But-"
"He and I are from different worlds, he's a prince, the heir to the throne and I'm a peasant, I grow food. He and I can't be together." I sat on my bed. "Like the Queen said, I'll stain his family's royal bloodline, I'll ruin everything."
"Aw Miss Ezra," Elena said as she came and sit next to me. "What makes you say that?"
"Because it's true, the Queen told me that." I sniffed. "I just want to go home and wish I never met the Prince."
