"You can't be serious, Gabriel! You can't be considering marrying a peasant! You're a royal, a prince, the heir to the throne, our next king!" Queen Keira shook her head, disapprovingly. "I will not allow it!"
Gabriel turned away from me and faced his mother. "You don't have the power to tell me that I can't marry her, Mother."
She frowned. "I beg your pardon? I am your mother! I am the queen!"
"I will marry her, Mother, one day I'll make her a princess and she will be the next queen of Endhart," Gabriel said.
"A born peasant a queen? How absurd!"
Gabriel neared his mother. He wasn't going to let his own mother intimidate him.
"No, not absurd, it's the future," Gabriel said. "Blood is just blood."
"No, it's not Gabriel, you have royal blood and she," Queen Keira gave me a disgusted look then returned her gaze at Gabriel. "Has dirty peasant blood."
"I don't know what Father saw in you, Mother. That will always be a mystery. But mark my words, you're a disgrace. You betrayed Father, me and your kingdom." Gabriel had on a disgusted look on his face. "You made an oath to your marriage and kingdom. You promised to be faithful and you also promised to care for your people."
Queen Keira narrowed her eyes on him. "You wouldn't tell him, would you? You haven't told for three years, you're not telling now."
"The time to be quiet is over, Mother," Gabriel said. "This already has got out of hand. You had a love child with him. I know now that Ethan's father is Asher."
She gaped at him. "W-what?"
"You are a rotten person, Mother. I am disappointed to be your son."
"Ethan's father is your father's," Queen Keira said, standing her ground. "And please Gabriel, do not insult me."
"Why not? Am I hurting you?" He asked, cruelly.
"Gabriel," I whispered. "Stop."
Gabriel stepped closer to his mother. "This isn't over."
He then walked away, leaving me alone with Queen Keira. Her eyes were trailing behind her son. Soon they landed on me.
"Don't you ever touch my son," Queen Keira said through gritted teeth. "You will not touch my crown either."
I shrugged. "I see that, that is out of your control, your Majesty." I folded my arms. "I mean you should know this. Love knows no bound." I let my arms fall. "Well maybe you don't...not exactly. You know lust knows no bound instead. You can't separate us any longer, Queen Keira." With that said I turned around and walked away from her.
She was no longer going to control me. She may be at the top social ranking but I was greater than her as a person.
I found Gabriel by the refreshments table, finishing a glass of wine. I held his hand and embraced him. I felt his arms around me.
"Sorry, I just got so upset with her," Gabriel whispered.
"I know," I whispered back.
"I want to marry you, Ezra, I always have."
My heart fluttered. "I want to marry you too."
"I'll speak with my advisors and other kingdoms about a possible marriage between us."
I pulled back. "You would do that?"
"Of course," Gabriel said. "Anything."
I smiled but then it disappeared.
