Gabriel led us to a table near the back. He was careful not to touch me when I sat down.

He ordered two glasses of wine and ignored looking at me as he did so. But what I have noticed was that he nervous. He only showed minor signs of nervousness, he wasn't pacing but he was taping his fingers on the table.

The butler might have noticed if Gabriel hadn't hurried him off. I was nervous too. I mean what do I talk to him about? Should I tell him that I still love him? What!

I noticed the young lady he was speaking to earlier, looking at us very observably. I scratched my neck. At last, Gabriel broke the silence.

"Ezra, you look beautiful this evening," Gabriel complimented.

I must have looked taken aback because Gabriel frowned in confusion.

"What's wrong? You don't like me saying the truth?"

I must have looked more taken aback because the redness was rising up in Gabriel's neck.

"Sorry," he quickly said. "I didn't mean to...." The butler came back with our glasses of wine and set them on the table in front of us.

Gabriel grabbed the glass of wine and then under less than a minute, set the empty glass down.

"Say something, Ezra," he urged.

"What can I say?" I asked. "Gabriel, if I'm still allow to call you that-"

"Always, Ezra," Gabriel interrupted.

"To be honest, Gabriel, it is very hard to speak to you," I admitted.

"I suppose it is my fault," Gabriel said. "I admit, too, that it is difficult to speak to you again."

I looked at him, expectantly.

"Which is why I asked my cousin, over there," he nodded over to the young lady who was observing us earlier. Oh. "To give me advice. I know it has been long that we have spoken and seen each other."

I nodded. "Do you just want to get on to the point?"

"I thought we were already are." Gabriel looked at me, straight in the eye. "Or maybe I was."

I groaned and shook my head. "It's all complicated, Gabriel! It's been a whole year and what do you think this first meeting will do? Huh!"

He leaned forward and started to hush me. "Quiet, Ezra! We don't want to capture attention to ourselves."

"Why? Because you're still worry about what everyone thinks?"

Okay, okay, I admit, I wasn't exactly going on my plan for him and I to be back together but I was releasing all my anger that I never noticed, out.

Gabriel looked pushed back at the last thing I said. He frowned. "Pardon me? No, I just want this conversation to be private, just between the two of us."

"Why private?"

Gabriel shook his head, he looked frustrated. "I know you're smarter than that."

"The fact that I really don't know why is insulting to me," I said.

Gabriel eyed me. "You're acting the same way."

"Excuse me?" I picked up my glass full of wine and Gabriel looked at it quickly before meeting my glare. "The same way? What do you mean by that?"

"Remember when we first met?" He asked.

"Oh yes I remember," I yawned. "You were a jerk and annoying."
