After breakfast, Prince Gabriel took me by the elbow and led me to an empty hallway. All the other royals were heading to their rooms to prepare for the ball tonight.
"What are we doing here?" I asked as he let go of me.
"I just wanted everyone to go before us. I don't want questions." Prince Gabriel started to pace. He was upset.
"Why are you acting like this, your Highness?" I asked.
"Because everyone is going to laugh at me!" He stopped pacing and looked at me. "I could lie. I could tell them that you came from a noble family."
"No!" I said. I surprised myself. I just disagreed against the Prince's wishes. Though as shock as I was I continued. "You will not."
"What makes you think you can disagree with me?" He asked, his voice so cold.
I folded my arms. "I am still your people. I come from the village. I can disagree with you whenever I want. Your kingdom's decisions are shaped by us."
"What do you want from me?" Prince Gabriel asked. He sounded overwhelmed. "Why did my mother chose you, a peasant girl?"
"I don't know," I lied. She wanted me to make you regret breaking the princesses's hearts. "She just wants you to find a bride."
"Oh I know that part," he muttered. "Listen here Ezra, no one can make me fall in love with them."
"Why?" I asked. "If you tell me, I'll pretend that I have fallen in love with you and you can break my heart right in front of your mother."
Prince Gabriel's eyes lightened up at the plan. Yet he did not smiled. "That may work."
"Why then? Why can't you fall in love with anyone?" I asked.
"I don't see anything special. That's all I'll tell you." He looked away from me and over my shoulder. "It's clear. Let's go."

I stared at myself in the mirror as my maids did the finishing touches on my hair. I was dressed in very gorgeous light pink gown. I wondered how much it cost. Maybe nothing for the royals but it could be a lot for my family.
I could just see my family struggling without me. And Will, the thought of him caused me to blush, he must be alright. My family must be alright. I closed my eyes. They needed me and I was going to help them. I must think of a way how though.
I opened my eyes as the finishing touches on my hair was done. The maids certainly made me look different from how I looked a week ago. I no longer looked like a peasant girl but a princess maybe.
My fading brown hair was newly enhanced with a dye. My eyelashes became darker and longer, my blush applied, and my skin became smooth. They were slowly changing my appearance and as well as my actions and knowledge.
"You look beautiful, Miss Ezra," Elena said.
"Thank you, Elena," I said as I blushed. "I hope you two don't mind but can't you stop putting the blush on me?"
"Why would you ask that?" Penny asked.
"I already have my own blush. I mean my natural blush." I looked at them both through the reflection. "No questions please. I had enough."
"We're sorry, Miss Ezra, we will take off the blush," Penny said as she grabbed a cloth to rub the blush off.
"Um do one of you know how old is Prince Gabriel?" I asked, looking at my gloved hands.
"He is nineteen, Miss Ezra," Elena answered as she set high heeled shoes by my feet.
Nineteen, that was interesting.
