I watched the royals socialize with each other the next afternoon in the drawing room and I closely watched how they act amongst each other.
They smiled, grinned, laughed, even though I wouldn't call it a laugh, and even more smiles.
The thing I noticed was that it wasn't genuine.
Back home, when we talked to each other, we meant everything we said. We spoke with enthusiasm in our voices. Here all I could hear was bragging and gossiping. Of course we gossiped back home but here it was meant to seriously destroy.
We were all waiting for all the belongings of the royals who came for the ball to be put into their own carriages. I looked over at the group of men who were discussing some serious matters based on their expressions.
I looked for Prince Gabriel and spotted him with his father. I sighed. I felt so sorry for King Gavin. He didn't have no clue what his wife had done last night and it might have been done more than once.
Prince Gabriel said something and his father smiled proudly. I was kind of awed by them. I was staring at my future king and the current king and, as a peasant like me, I would never would have thought to be this close to them.
Something clicked in my mind. I could get my help from them. Kings could help their people's lives improve... right? I really hope they do.
Prince Gabriel turned to check on me and our eyes met. The intensity of his stare made me blush and blink so many times. I broke the gaze after I heard my name being whispered.
I looked over at the princesses. They were all looking at me. Sure look at the lonely girl sitting at one of the couches. I forced myself to not roll my eyes. They frowned and gave me dirty looks. They looked away.
"Who is she anyway? She spent the whole night with Gabriel!" one of them said.
"She's Gabriel's new lady friend. It looks like they are serious. More serious than he was with any of us." It was the Princess of Aracell, the one with the pale hair and dark blue eyes.
"Stop lying Cadence! She did not!" Another princess yelled, sounding very shock if I may add.
Princess Cadence gave me another dirty look. "I never saw her before in any of the balls."
"Who could she be?" another princess, who had too much necklaces around her neck, whispered.
"She's trouble." At that all the princesses looked at me. "And her name is Ezra."
I swallowed. My eyes might have look so wide at the time that Princess Cadence smiled wickedly and her eyes glistened.
I jumped when Prince Gabriel put his hand on my shoulder. I looked away from the princesses and turned to him. He leaned in and whispered into my ear. "Meet me in the hall."
I stood up and looked at Prince Gabriel. He was looking at the princesses who were fluttering their eyelashes at him. I headed to the door and exit.
It wasn't long till Prince Gabriel joined me.
"Follow me," he said and began walking.
I followed him past a few doors and then we walked to another spiral staircase. This one though was in the left side of the castle.
We paused once we were a couple steps in.
"What did you heard?" he asked. "What did those girls said?"
"They were just talking about me, about us." Prince Gabriel's eyes darkened. "They're jealous, your Highness. They think that you're more serious with me than you ever were with them."
