Today was the day. When I woke up that morning I reminded myself to not regret my decision. As my maids dressed me, a knock was at the door. Elena went and checked. She came back with a letter in her hand. She handed it to me and I opened it while they fixed my hair.
The letter read:
Schedule
Lessons - After breakfast in library
Break - Gabriel will be kept busy at that time
Lessons - Continue till dinner, same location
Bed - Straight after dinner, you will be escorted if must
This will go on for as long as it will last.
Queen Keira
And that was the end of it. I hid the letter underneath my pillow. My maids had just walked out the door. I needed to keep this from them. I knew they secretly wanted Prince Gabriel and I to be together. If they found this letter, they would do something.
I walked down to the dining room for breakfast and when I entered, I saw my new assigned seat. I gulped. I noticed Prince Gabriel expecting me to sit next to him. I went to sit next to Queen Keira while he sat as his father's side.
When breakfast was served, I looked to Prince Gabriel's direction.
He mouthed: Are you okay?
I nodded.
He looked at his mother and then back at me. Are you sure?
I nodded again.
Outside. He gestured with his eyes at the door.
I looked at the Queen for a second but that was all it took for her to notice.
"Ezra, why don't I join you after breakfast?" She asked.
"Yes, of course," I said.
"Very well." Then she continued to speak with King Gavin.
I looked back at Prince Gabriel. He seemed confused, an expression that I would be too familiar with in the future. I smiled at him and then continue to enjoy my breakfast.
He stared at me before he began to eat again. After breakfast, Queen Keira escorted me over to the library where my instructor would be waiting.
"Mother, wait!"
I shut my eyes. Go away, please.
"Keep going," Queen Keira whispered.
I obeyed as she went and stall.
When I reached the library, my instructor had prepared heaps of assignments though these were assignments that would teach me more about trading and how to gain more money in return. My family kind of holds a business if you say and I need to know more than planting, picking, and protecting them from critters.
This would keep me distracted from my reckless feelings. This would keep me focus on what was important, my family and not a false fantasy.
I studied for hours and then it was time for a break. I stretched before heading out.
"Ezra, come back on time, alright?" My instructor told me.
I nodded and walked out. What should I do during my break? I walked to the kitchen, thinking that I haven't been in there for quite some time. I knocked.
