Gabriel walked into the room and I closed the door. When I turned around, he was already pacing across my room.
"What's wrong?" I asked. "Gabriel."
"I just couldn't fool myself," Gabriel muttered.
I frowned. What does he mean by that?
He stopped and turned around to face me. "Ezra, I could only wish you could stay with me."
"What happened? You're not making any sense."
"I love you, Ezra and I want you to know that that I will never fall in love again because my heart belongs with you, will always belong to you."
"What are you saying?" I asked, worried.
"My mother wants you out of the castle and I must abide by her."
I froze. "Abide? Are you listening to yourself?" He took my hands in his. "Gabriel, why would you do that?"
"Ezra, my princess, I have to let you go." Gabriel looked like he might burst into tears at any second. "It is unfortunate that I can't be with you forever."
"Gabriel, tell me!"
"I must let you go back home or my mother will throw you in the dungeon and then banish you to a kingdom so far away."
I looked at him in disbelief. "So I have to go back and never see you again?"
Gabriel shook his head. "I'll visit as much as I can, Ezra." He held my face. "I'll learn to disguise myself completely."
"But we just admitted our feelings to each other and now we can't be together," I said, tears were building in my eyes. "I don't want to let you go, Gabriel!"
"You won't," Gabriel whispered. "I'll always be with you."
He hugged me and I held onto to him. I was already crying and he tightened his embrace.
"It's so unfair," I cried. Why did I had to fall in love with a prince?
"I know," Gabriel whispered. He pulled back and he looked so sad. Soon he leaned forward and kissed me.
This kiss was different than the last two. It was urgent and desperate. We poured all of our emotions and when we let go, each of us were gasping.
"When will I go?" I asked.
"The day after I come back from Aracell."
I sniffed. "How long is that?"
"In eight days," he replied. "You will be staying here. I will be gone two days so we only have six days left to be together."
I wiped away my tears. "It doesn't have to be this way." An idea occurred but I doubt Gabriel will agree to it. "I have an idea."
Gabriel shook his head. "What can we possibly do?"
"We must tell your father the truth about your mother's affair," I said.
"You mean we have to threatened my mother so she won't do this to us?" Gabriel thought about it. "Why hadn't I thought of this before?"
A hope flared in me. "You think it'll work?"
Gabriel locked eyes with me. "It's worth a try, I can't imagine losing you. I'll try it right now." Gabriel made to leave but I caught him by the arm.
