Hero

It's morning, the Sun's rays seep out of my bedroom window into my mom's house.

I don't know what time it is, I don't even have plans for today, so I can take my time and get some more sleep...

Obviously, some people don't feel the same way.

"Hero, your phone's been ringing for an hour!" my mom yells from downstairs.
I choke my eyes, put on a T-shirt and a pair of shorts and join her in the kitchen.

"Good morning to you too..." I smile sitting on one of the stools of the kitchen.

"Good morning, honey, could you please turn off your phone when you go to bed? Is it always this loud?"

Just then it sounds again.

Felix.

I'll get up and answer it in the living room.

"Hey man, what's up?"

"FT!!! we've been trying to call you for two hours, what happened to you? Don't tell me you're at some party without us!" he exclaims.

"You know it's 8:00 in the morning here in London, right?" I laugh

"You're unpredictable!" he laughs, "You never know..."

"How are you?" I ask a little hesitant...

I have a thousand more questions, actually. I'd like to know if they've seen Jo, how she's doing, if they've talked to her...
I mean, too many questions to ask now.

"Everything is fine here... in a few hours we have the flight back to London, so we can go to parties together!"

"Do you think only about parties?" I laugh

"And to the girls..." he adds satisfied.

"How did it go with Chantal?"

In all the confusion, I forgot to ask him and Morgz how it went...

"Christal... her name is Christal! She's cute... we went out twice, but nothing more... I'm going back to London and she's going to San Francisco..." I hear a note of disappointment in his voice, and I'm sorry, it didn't go very well for him either, apparently.

"You rather...how are you?"

"Good question..." I have to laugh ironically "I don't know how to answer sincerely..."

"I..." Sighs Felix "Actually we are ..."

I remain silent listening to what he has to say to me.
If it takes so long, it's probably not good...

"We're at Mia's now..." he says in one breath and my brain takes a while to process the information.

They are at Mia's. Mia lives with Jo.
Oh fuck they went to Jo's house!

"Hero are you there?"

"Yes, I'm here... I'm there!" my heart goes up my throat! What are they doing at her home?

"Alex wanted to say goodbye to Mia before returning to London and she invited us to stay here tonight, since we have an early flight tomorrow morning and..." Felix seems to feel obliged to justify himself in some way but there is no need, at all!

"Hey, breathe! It's okay!" I'm trying to reassure him.
I want to ask him a lot of things, but I don't know where to start.

"But she's not here..."

I take a deep breath and my brain starts thinking about a thousand different things.

"Why isn't there? It's her house..."
