Chapter 6

Hero

After the colossal fuck-up I did a few days ago with Josephine, I don't have much hope of talking to her again as friends, or at least without there being tension between us.

What went through my mind, I don't know.
I could have avoided telling her that I only called her for a bet, a game.
What a dickhead, really!

"Hey man!" on the computer Dylan appears, ready for another round of interviews with me and Jo.
I think she's there too, I don't know anymore at this point.I haven't heard from her in a good three days!

"How are you?" I smile at him.
I miss our chats, he really is a great friend and we had so many fun times on set.
It all seems so far away now.

"Wait... my dog is barking and I don't want him to do that for the whole interview... I'll be right back!"

"Yeah, don't worry!" I take the opportunity to adjust the light in front of me.I was nervous as hell this morning when I woke up and spent 2 hours trying to figure out how to dress, so much so that I then opted for a simple black shirt and sweatpants, since we'll have to spend a lot of time in front of the computer, I want to be comfortable.

No sign of Jo yet but it's still early, there's at least another 20 minutes before the interviews start. We've been told to log on early so as to avoid any possible technical glitches.My heart skips a beat when another window appears on the screen, totally black for now, but with the name - Josephine Langford - on it.

I feel out of breath and it's as if I haven't seen her in months or even years, as if she were my giant crush... although maybe she is a bit!

An image of a grey sofa appears and I stand with bated breath to see if Jo will appear anytime soon.
No sound can be heard, nor is there any movement, so I don't know if the image has remained still or if there is simply no one in front of it.

"Jo!!! Come here!  Now we're connected!" is clearly Mia's voice.

"Hey Mia!" I smile shaking my head. Jo's friend appears in front of the camera, sitting on the couch "Hey beauty! How are you?" she smiles happily at me "My friend will be here soon. She's still in the shower!"

Suddenly unchaste images come back to my mind and I have to force myself to chase them away immediately, before they cloud my head!

"REally? She's always so punctual!" I joke.

"Without me I don't know how she would do it!" sighs Mia laughing "How are you doing?"

"Pretty good... you? How's life in L.A?"

"With Jo you mean? A nightmare... she's always out, at the gym, dancing in the clubs. She doesn't stand still for a second! I've tried telling her to watch a movie once in a while, but she won't hear of it!" she laughs.

I run a hand through my hair amused "I can imagine that!"

"All joking aside, we're fine. So far she hasn't throttled me, so I'd say our cohabitation is working!" she winks at me "But I'm watching her for you, don't worry!"

Again these statements, it's not the first time and I honestly don't understand.

"Mia, we're just friends, she can do..."I'm interrupted by Jo jumping on the couch next to Mia laughing "Move nosy!!! I have to do the interview!!!"

"Have you even finished getting dressed?" the sceptical team laughs "I don't think so"

I barely catch a glimpse of her on the screen and I can't tell if she's in her pyjamas or 'worse' in a bathrobe.
Oh my God, please let her be dressed!

"Oh my God Hero?" her face finally appears on my screen and my heart loses more than a beat.She's wearing a blue and black top with a plunging neckline, light make-up and wavy hair.I remain spellbound looking at her without saying a word.

"Sorry, I didn't see you! She... What did she tell you?" she asks a bit embarrassed, alternating her gaze between me and her.

"Uhh you should know!" jokes Mia winking at me "I told him everything!"

Jo stands motionless and looks at her without saying anything.I watch the scene between the two of them as Dylan takes his seat in his living room chair again.

"Here I am! Hi Jo! Recovered from last night?" he laughs.

I'm clearly missing something but I don't have the courage to ask.

"Oh yes she has recovered! You should have seen her this morning how early she got up!" exclaims Mia laughing as she is literally pushed away by Jo who shushes her intimating her to leave.The scene is comical, though I still don't understand.

"I caught Jo in a club!" Dylan explains to me "And she was pretty, like, cheerful!" he bursts out laughing mocking her.

"Oh stop it!" she laughs, running a hand over her face in amusement "I didn't drink that much..."

"No no, it's true..."

"I mean, when does this interview start?" she tries to change the subject and I just watch her.Fuck how much I've missed even seeing her!

"Hero I see you're always home too eh..." laughs Dylan

Yes, I've been going out a lot lately, mostly to avoid thinking about her.

"What's that girl's name again?" Dylan interrupts my thoughts.

"Who?" I don't understand who she's referring to and...Oh, of course! "Melissa?"

"Tall, dark hair... pretty?"

"I'd say so..."

He's certainly not helping me with my situation with Jo I must say, but if we're just going to be friends there's no harm in it... I think!

"And bravo to our Hero..." he teases me as I notice Jo is looking away, as if lost in thought.

The mobile phone starts ringing in front of me and only now I remember that I forgot to put it on silent mode.
I rush to pick it up and see Dylan's name on it.
I look at it in the camera without understanding.
Jo looks straight at us, or so it seems, but doesn't say a word.

"Are you calling me?" I ask doubtfully.

"Actually I was going to call you on Whatsapp but I messed up... anyway do you guys want to create a group so we can text each other during the interviews?" he proposes.

"Okay..." I smile, adjusting my phone.

Jo nods, continuing to remain silent.The notification of the new group created by Trevor The Asshole appears on the display and I can't help but laugh, it's called 'The Survivors' and I shake my head opening the conversation.

"Trevor The Asshole added you to the group" this is the first message that appears.

Hero: Can we basically comment on the interviews here?

Dylan: Let's see who laughs first... :-D

Jo: You will definitely lose... :-P

Hero: This is all to be proven!

The interview begins, as do the usual questions, this time much more focused on the sexy scenes in the new film and how we handled intimacy during filming.Easy, we liked each other and kissing was never a problem.God how I miss her lips.

Dylan: Next time reply that you enjoyed having sex, let's see how they react!
