"Alright, here we are, boys. Right on Tojo's doorstep."

A company commander started to bark out orders to his troops, with all of their equipment in hand and ready. The company was situated in the island of Saipan, with the American marines preparing an attack further inland.

"Well, go on and head over to our new beach head, which Company J had just delightfully prepared for us." the company commander told the troops. "Get what you need, marines. It's gonna be a long way there."

With that order, the marines began to gather their equipment and started to walk along the shore towards their newly established beach head, soon to become an outpost for their upcoming operation.

One of the marines was carrying an M2 Browning Machine Gun on his shoulder, then he noticed something odd about his fellow marines.

He noticed that a few of them had strange colours on them: their uniform, equipment, even themselves.

He looked that his surroundings and the majority of the marines were in their normal colours, the ones that he was used to, and yet, those select marines in bizarre colours stood out to him like a sore thumb.

He didn't want to bring up this fact, albeit he had a hard time to look away from them. He'd often found himself staring at them, feeling confused and scared of them.

"Hey, man, you alright?"

The marine felt a hand on his shoulder. This made him turn to the left and noticed one of his friends, asking if he was okay.

"You've been kinda staring at something..." the marine added. "Don't tell me you got the thousand yard stare already."

"Ah, no, no... it's not that." the first marine shook his head. "I'm just fine, just... a bit tired."

"But... we just got here." the other marine replied. "What's really going on? You got seasick, wounds, anything? 'Cause that doesn't sound like nothing to me."

"I mean... listen, have you noticed something off?" the first marine answered. "Like, just look at Robinson over there. He's... covered with a weird color."

"You noticed it too, huh?" the other marine replied. "I dunno what's up with him, same with Jackson and White..."

"You think it's just us that it's happening to?"

"Probably those Japs have some of them too." the other marine shook his head. "If not, then that gives us more of a reason to kill them all."

"Right..." the first marine nodded.

"Hey, quit the chatter over there!" the company commander turned around, looking at the two marines. "Any more peeps from you, then I'll put you both on night watch, understand?"

The two marines noticed that the company commander was covered in the same strange colour as the select marines.

"Did you hear me? You got cotton in your ears?"

"N-No, sir." the two marines responded. "We'll stop."

"Good, you better."

With that, the company commander turned back around to monitor the march. The two marines wanted to talk about the matter a bit more, yet they kept it to themselves.

"Alright, I think that's all of them."

"You're lucky you surrendered, Jerry. You saved your own arse."

After a grueling and harsh battle in the Ardennes, the British soldiers of the 21st Army Group had successfully fended off the German offensive, capturing a few Germans in the process.
