A family had walked through the entrance of a well-known family diner in the city, to celebrate the birthday of the parents' child. The child seemed excited to be inside the diner, and the father was keeping him in check, while the mother began to consult with the reservationist.
"Excuse me, do you have a reservation?"
"Could you give me you name please?"
"Carter." the mother responded. "I believe I called a few days ago."
"Carter... Carter..." the reservationist muttered as he looked through the reservation list. "Ah, there you are."
The reservationist looked up at the mother.
"You can go and head over to Table 4, over there." the reservationist pointed to the said table. "One of our waiters will be with you shortly."
"Alright, thank you." the mother then looked at her husband and son. "Honey, Buck... our table's this way."
"You heard her, birthday boy." the father told his son, ruffling his hair. "Let's go."
"I still can't believe that I'm here on my birthday!" the son then noticed something, making him gasp in shock. "Is that an arcade?"
The two parents looked as to where their son was looking at, the family diner's indoor arcade, full of classic arcade games.
"Yeah, that's an arcade, kiddo..." the father chuckled lightly.
"Can I play there?"
"Maybe later, Buck." the mother answered. "You'll have all the time later on to play."
"But I wanna play right now, mom!"
"How about this, Buck?" the mother proceeded to negotiate with her son. "Let's eat dinner first, then you can play in the arcade. How's that sound?"
"Yeah, okay, mom!"
"Okay, good..." the mother smiled. "Now, come on, let's get to our table so we can eat..."
"Okay..."
With that, the family sat down on their table and looked at the menus, then placing their orders shortly after.
The waiter then brought their food to the table: a medium-sized pizza, three plates of spaghetti, a basket of bread, and a few drinks.
Almost immediately, the child began to eat what he could, eager to go to the arcade as soon as possible; his parents then noticed this.
"Buck, eat slower..." the mother told his son. "You're gonna get a tummy ache if you keep this up."
"You really wanna go to the arcade that badly, champ?" the father asked his son, to which he nodded. "Well, still, listen to your mother. You'll be at the arcade soon."
Despite this, the child still continued to eat his plate of spaghetti, a few slices of pizza, and his glass of orange juice. After he did so, the child turned to his mother, who was still eating her plate.
"Mom, I'm done." the child told his mother. "Now, can I please go to the arcade now?"
"Alright, a deal's a deal..."
The mother then got her purse, grabbed a number of quarters from it, and handed then to her son. At the sight of this, the child's eyes lit up.
"Have fun, Buck." the mother smiled, then sternly told him. "But don't get in any trouble, okay?"
"Okay, I won't."
With that, the child began to go towards the arcade, leaving his parents at the table. As soon as he got there, the child was in awe at the amount of games present: classic arcade games, air hockey, pinball, and a few others.
