The sun rose above the horizons, signalling a brand new day. It was a relatively peaceful morning, as the colonel was currently still sleeping in her quarters.
She snored and her mouth was drooling, sleeping in an awkward position on her bed. Alongside that, she had occasional mumbling and murmuring, both of which are incomprehensible.
She stayed like this for a few more moments until she heard her alarm clock on her bedside cabinet, making her jolt up on her bed.
"Wha? What the?" the colonel rubbed her eyes and noticed the source of the noise. "Oh, for fuck's sake..."
She then grabbed the alarm clock off of the bedside cabinet and she looked around for its off switch. She was still drowsy and tried to turn it off by its switch.
"Come on, turn off, damn it..." the colonel muttered to herself, then eventually managed to turn it off. "Okay, thank god..."
The colonel then made the alarm clock face forward.
"You know, I was this close to bashing you on this cabinet..." the colonel spoke to the alarm clock, with the thumb and index finger of her free hand almost touching to emphasise her sentence. "You lucked out... 'cause if it went on for three more seconds then..."
The colonel yawned and set the alarm clock back on the bedside cabinet.
"You would be in the trash can right now with every bit of you..." the colonel continued. "And I don't want to pick anything up this early in the morning..."
She then stood up from her bed and lazily walked towards the door, leading her to the living room. She opened it and she saw that parts of her uniform were in various places, more specifically on the floor, and on the chairs.
"Did I not put them away?" the colonel tried to remember, then shrugged. "Eh, whatever... I'll remember to put them away later..."
With that, the colonel began to get ready for the day. She freshened herself up, she ate her breakfast, and she gathered her uniform for her to wear.
As she did so, she looked at herself in the mirror, making sure that her uniform was presentable. She had checked for any wrinkles, or any damages that she might not know about, but she was relieved not to find any of the sort.
"Alright, looks good to me..." the colonel stretched her arms upwards and side-to-side. "Ahh... no tears, no breaks, no nothing."
She then looked at her boots, making sure that it was comfortable enough for her to walk in; she took a few steps, testing her boots.
"Alright, that's good enough for me." the colonel smiled, then looked over to her living quarters, which was still a mess because of her uniform. "As for that... I'll pick them up later."
With that, she walked towards the door and opened it, leading her out of her living quarters. As she stepped out, she looked to her left, seeing that the captain was already waiting for her.
"Oh, captain... you don't usually wait for me this early in the morning." the colonel greeted. "What's up?"
"Ma'am, we have a change of plan for today..." the captain answered.
"What do you mean 'change of plan'?"
"Well, we're going to help Researcher Durham with an SCP today..." the captain replied. "Since Athena nor her friends could help her currently, she came to me to ask for assistance last night."
"Soo... why does it involve me if she only came to you?"
"She tried, ma'am, but you were already asleep by then and I didn't want her to disturb you..." the captain responded. "I know how you can be with being rudely awakened just for anything work related."
