"Sir, surely you can't be serious about this..."

"We're dealing with this on our own, colonel."

"But sir, they literally beat him up!" the colonel persisted. "Can't you see the bruises and scratches on him? He's been assaulted and you know that!"

"That may be so, but we can't just bring up this matter to them, especially after we have settled a separate one." the site director replied. "The preparation and the negotiation itself were tense enough for me."

"So we're just going to leave it like that? Is that what you're telling me?"

"The decision's final, colonel. That's enough."

"For fuck's sake..." the colonel lazed back on the backseat, crossing her arms. "With all due respect, sir, you're playing away too safe on this..."

"Well... I'd rather do that then tear down a bridge we had just built." the site director responded. "We'll deal with this matter on our own, and we'll inform them of this when the time is right."

"I can't believe this..."

"Ma'am, we should focus on the current matter of making the private feel better." the captain spoke up. "You can bring this matter up in another time."

"Fine..." the colonel sulked. "This is just fucking unbelievable... and I have a good idea on who was behind it too."

"Ma'am, that's enough."

"So that's what happened?"

"The long and short of it, yeah..." the Australian recruit nodded, then sighed. "The kid's had enough, but I'm just glad that this whole thing's over."

"Yeah..." the joker agreed. "Did they do anything to you?"

"Oh, me?" the Australian recruit asked, then responded. "Couple punches, couple kicks, but I don't think it can compare to the hell that the kid went through."

"I could only imagine..."

The joker then looked over at the nervous recruit, who sat next to him, looking down at his hands and staying motionless. His shemagh had covered his face, not wanting to see the bruises that he had sustained.

"So... how do you plan on telling Lia this?" the Australian recruit asked. "Are you gonna make up some lame excuse or something?"

"Why would I do that?" the joker asked back. "There's no sugarcoating this! We have to tell her what the hell happened!"

"Yeah... right..." the Australian recruit agreed with a nod. "So... how do you think she's going to react?"

"Would it matter?"

"I dunno... but it's fun to think about..." the Australian recruit nodded. "When we get back at those cunts, then all hell's gonna break loose..."

"Even though some of the GOC did this, I don't think that everyone in the entire organisation should answer for it." the joker replied. "I mean, what about those who didn't know what went on with them?"

"You kidding me?" the Australian recruit responded almost immediately. "They literally just assaulted him when he was a peisoner! Surely they must fucking pay for this the only way we know how!"

"Resolving violence with violence is just going to inspire more violence." the joker replied. "We can deal with this whole matter on our own, with no blood being shed."
