Lifeline

Part 12

When Kurt wakes up the next morning he realizes that he's not alone. Blaine sits on the stool, arms resting crossed on Kurts bed and head lying on his arms. He softly snores and his curls look even messier than usual.

Kurt smiles at him, grateful that he's always there for him. More than just a normal nurse. More like a true friend.

He should probably wake him up because his shift starts soon and apparently Blaine didn't set an alarm. He doesn't want that Blaine gets into trouble even tho he's already in the hospital just because he stayed with him.

"Blaine. Wake up" Kurt says, trying to shake him awake carefully without making him fall off the stool. For a second Blaine resists the need to wake up, still too tired to begin his day but then he opens his eyes, trying to remember since he's not home in his bed.

Then he remembers falling asleep at Kurts bed. Kurt. Blaine snaps his head up, looking right into Kurts softly smiling face. "Good morning" the younger man says and Blaine answers "Morning". "Kurt I'm so sorry for falling asleep here like this" He continues.

"It's okay Blaine. You were exhausted. I just thought I wake you so you won't miss your shift and get into trouble" Kurt explains. "Thank you" Blaine says and looks at the clock "But I don't have enough time anymore to drive home, fresh up and change and drive back and check up on Sebastian before my shift".

"How about you use my bathroom, feel free to use all the products you need. Beside maybe the peeling because it was a bit too expensive and it's not for your skin type anyway as I can see.

Then you go to the cafeteria and eat something for breakfast after not eating dinner yesterday. Before you go and change into your work clothes you still have time to go to Sebastian and if not then you change and then go during your shift. I'll wait" Kurt proposes.

For a second Blaine is stunned about how much Kurt planed it all through in that little time. "That's very thoughtful of you Kurt. Thank you" he then finally says.

"Nothing to thank me for. Now go to the bathroom before you'll be late for real" Kurt answers and watches Blaine run to the bathroom and closing the door behind him.

Kurt really cares about his skin, using a lot of different and not always cheap products that Blaine by now got to know very good since he's naturally helping Kurt in the bathroom as well. Even more of a pleasure for Blaine that he's allowed to use them now.

When Blaine is done trying to look a bit more awake and fresh and less exhausted, which he gave up by now, he comes out of the bathroom again and asks Kurt if he needs anything before leaving to eat brakfast in the cafeteria.

It became a habbit to ask that before leaving his room no matter where he goes.

When Meggy sees Blaine coming he simply tells her that he was to exhausted to go home after seeing her surprised face when she sees him coming in. Meggy luckily just smiles and makes Blaine a coffee. Extra strong of course.

After a quick breakfast Blaine leaves the cafeteria and goes to his best friend to see how he's doing this morning. In the evening after Blaines shift they can go home together luckily.

When Sebastian realizes that his best friend wears the same clothes as the day before he , of course, makes him tell him everything from when he left his room to the moment he came in again a few minutes ago.

First he laughs that Blaine just felt asleep but then he's grateful that Blaine stayed so long for him and Kurt in first place.

"See? I told you that there's something between you two. What you did for him was really nice and what he did for you in return too. You two belong together" Sebastian then says.

Blaine shakes his head "Seb we had this topic a few times too often already". "Fine but I tell you, you two belong together and Klaine is real. Remember my words at your wedding. Oh and I better be best man yeah?" Sebastian conters and both men laugh at that.

Then Blaine looks at the time, realizing that he has to go and get changed before he's late. So he says goodbye to Sebastian and goes to the locker room.

Just in time he greets Monica at the counter, takes a tray with breakfast and enters Kurts room again after knocking on the door.

"Long time no see" Kurt jokes and Blaine answers "I missed my favorite patient and look, I even bring breakfast with me". Both men laugh and Blaine sits down on the stool again after setting down the tray.

"I have a goal for us today. Or more for you but I'll help you reach it" Blaine tells. He thought about doing that while eating breakfast himself. "And what would be that goal?" Kurt asks curious.

"We concentrate on your fingers, hands and wrists today. It gives us both a break from the training for once and at dinner I want to test how much you can do on your own when it comes to eating. What do you think about that?" Blaine proposes. When eating works they can try other stuff tomorrow.

He can see Kurts eyes glow "You really think I'm there already?". "If not I wouldn't have asked. Believe in yourself. You train really hard so I think we could give it a try and I'm still here with you and help you with everything you need my help with" Blaine says encouraging.

"Okay. Let's try it. Can't hurt right?" the younger man asks and Blaien asnwers "That's the spirit. Now, how about some breakfast so we can get started soon?". "Sounds like a plan" Kurt answers and both laugh again.

After breakfast the boys start on doing a little hand, wrist and finger training, talking about everything and nothing while listening to music.

"You know what?" Kurt asks while he takes a little break and Blaine massages he wrists one after another to relax them. "What?" the nurse asks, looking concentrated to the wrist he's massaging.

"When I'm better and can walk again or more dance, we have to do a karaoke night at my home when I'm there again" Kurt tells. "Okay. But we could still sing together before you get home. Like- Like practice" Blaine proposes "I wanna hear you sing".

"You already know that I can sing. Glee club: Remember?" Kurt laughs but Blaine answers as serious as possible but with a grin "That was an eternity ago. I want to hear you sing again and this time instead of competign we could sing together".

"Okay. For practice but if we get some more people together for karaoke we do it as a friendly competition to make it more interesting" Kurt says and the other man agrees "Okay. But now enough of the break. Let's continue so we can still do something before lunch".
