Part 39

March. Everyone is busy. It's a sad, happy, busy month.

Kurt started packing for his return to New York, still having to organize some things with NYADA.

His family helps him of course. But secretly they also help Blaine.

After new year Blaine went back to work, quickly falling into his old routine again. But besides that he's planning a little surprise goodbye party for his boyfriend for his last evening.

Hunter and Sebastian also promised to come, staying at Blaines for the night before driving home again the next morning.

First Blaine had no clue what to do but then he remembered that he and Kurt talked about a karaoke competition. A friendly one. And that's what they'll do.

There will be snacks, drinks, karaoke and a friendly competition. Sebastian, Finn, Hunter; Kurt and Blaine can sing against each other, solo, duet, groups and Carol and Burt play the judges.

Everything is planned and even tho Blaine can't wait for the karaoke night he doesn't want Kurt to leave the day after.

Most of the time Kurt or work could distract him when he was thinking about the future rather than the here and now but sometimes he couldn't help it imagining the future.

Imagine going to work and not to Kurts after. Or going to work and being invited for dinner after at the Hudson-Hummel house but Kurts place at the table will be empty. Imagining not laying next to Kurt in bed and cuddle and talk until they fall asleep but laying next to his phone and talking to Kurt that way.

Blaine didn't realized how lonely he was before Kurt came into his life and now he's part of an amazing family but the most important person in his life won't be next to him everyday.

Kurt is exited to go back to New York and NYADA where his dream still is. He and Blaine are meant to be. They'll get this whole long distance thing just like Finn and Rachel do.

But besides that there's another terrifying thought very present in his head. It's always there but Kurt didn't told anyone about it, most of the time trying to ignore it as good as possible.

He'll fly back to New York. Fly as in getting into a plane. Plane as in that thing that crashed and hurt him, almost costing him his life. Hurt and almost costing him his life as in one year coma. One year coma as in having to learn everything again from the start.

The chances that he'll get into a second crash are low but a chance still.

He hadn't told anyone. It's probably nothing and he'll worry for no reason. He'll get into the plane and land in New York where Rachel and Santana will wait for him.

The last evening, end of march, comes fast. Too fast some might say. But it comes and no one can stop it.

To keep Kurt distracted he's send to the grocery store to buy some stuff for dinner that Carol 'forgot to buy'.

While he's away Blaine comes from work, decorating the living room with Carol and Burt. Just as they finish the karaoke set up the door bell rings and Sebastian and Hunter enter.

They came just in time because not even five minutes later the door opens again and Kurt comes in with a bag full of groceries.

"Carol I got everything you-" Kurt starts, stopping in his tracks "Did I miss a birthday or something?". "No Angel you didn't. This is for you. A little goodbye party" Blaine answers.

He goes to Kurt, taking the bag out of his hand before taking his hands again and pressing his forehead against Kurts. "I wanted to plan something for your last evening and the others were glad to help" he says so quiet that only Kurt can hear him.

The younger man looks into his eyes, his own tearing up a little. "I love you so much" he says before crashing his lips on Blaines, making them stumble a little but it doesn't matter.

"So you send me to the grocery store for no reason?" Kurt asks after the kiss but Carol shakes her head laughing as she takes the bag "You actually bought tomorrows dinner".

On that everyone starts laughing while Blaine leads Kurt to the couch so both can sit down, after Kurt greeted Sebastian and Hutner.

"So. What little something did you plan?" Kurt asks with a curious smile, making Blaine laugh. The older lays an arm around Kurt, Kurt leaning against him instantly, before saying "First of all dinner. Maybe you can already smell it but Carol made your favorite".

"Lasagna!" Kurt says, sitting straight again and inhaling deeply before sighing happily and leaning against Blaine again.

"Remember when you were in hospital and I was still only your nurse and friend, the conversation we had about karaoke?" Blaine continues. Kurt nods "We agreed that some day we have a friendly competition". Then he realizes "Wait-". Again everyone laughs before he can continue.

"Yes angel we'll have a karaoke night. You, Finn, Seb, Hunter and me. Judges: Burt and Carol" Blaine tells, kissing his boyfriends cheek. "That's- wow. Thank you" the younger says.

Then, just a moment later, Carol calls from the kitchen "Dinner is ready". Kurt is the first one to jump up and run in the kitchen, he smell of lasagna filling the kitchen.

During dinner everyone chats happily about everything and nothing and enjoying the delicious lasagna that Carol made.
