I was completely shocked. How is this possible? He supposedly died when there was a rogue attack when he was on patrol. His Beta was killed, and another warrior was left for dead and told everyone what had happened.

"How are you alive?" I couldn't stop the question from leaving my lips.

"How about I tell you a story." He leaned back in his chair. "A long time ago, I was your father's right-hand man, I got my hands dirty so he could keep his clean. There was a mission I was sent on with a handful of my warriors and a handful from the palace. We were asked to infiltrate a pack and kill the Alpha and his family. We were told it was a mission of the utmost importance, and this wolf we had killed was planning a coup to take down the throne. I later found out that was not the case, and we slaughtered an innocent man and his family. Not even his children were spared. It was a message being sent. But there was no one who needed to receive that message as there was no plan against the throne. I confronted your father about it, we just murdered them, there was no reason, it was a waste of life." He said angrily and paused before continuing. "He eventually told me that that pack had started to turn away from the thrones' guidance, and he wanted to teach a lesson to the other packs. All they did was want to be self-sufficient. The pack was mainly just families wanting to raise their children away from the battles that racked the land at the time. I was furious and threatened him before leaving. I heard that an attack was going to go against me by your father to silence me, so I set up the rogue attack to fake my death, my Beta losing his life was a price I regretfully had to pay to get to this moment."

I was disgusted by my father and the man in front of me. I was being used in his warped ideal of a united future. Although to get there, he had no issues slaughtering any wolf that didn't agree with his ideals.

"How are you any better than my father? You plan on killing any wolf that doesn't follow your way of thinking. The loss of life will be in untold numbers. This will be a mass casualty, and there is no other way to look at it." I huffed at him.

"Ahh, but that is where you are wrong, my dear, we are giving them a choice. They can choose to live." Was he serious? This man had no issues with starting a war... "And I also have you Princess, with you by my side, most will fall in line."

"And if I refuse?" I asked

"That's simply not an option. This is for the greater good."

"So you are saying my freedom and choice are being taken away?" He looked at me as if realizing that for the first time.

"I'm sorry, Princess, but this needs to be done whether you want to or not." He said quietly.

I stood up.

"I would like to go back to my room."

"I've been told you haven't been eating, I'll ask you to sit and have some lunch, then Daniel will escort you back downstairs."

My stomach growled quietly, giving me away. It had been two days since I had eaten anything. I sat back down, not looking at him.

"Excellent, Daniel, bring in the food."

He went off through the door and returned moments later with two plates of hot food. It looked to be a chicken dinner with mashed potatoes, carrots, and gravy. It was not very flavorful, but it was hot, and my stomach appreciated the food. I picked away until I was full, leaving half of it on the plate. I wiped my mouth and stood again.

"Thank you for the meal, I would like to go now." He just nodded, and I turned to walk toward Danny.

He opened the door and led the way back to my room. I tried watching to see what way we went so I would know how to get out of here. He opened my door for me then closed it, and locked it once I was inside. Great, I thought, I wondered how long I was going to be here, I just wanted to go home. I couldn't decide if I wanted to go to my home at the castle or to go to Gabriel's pack. I knew I missed my sister though, we were rarely apart and I must be almost a week that I've been away, I started going through the days in my head, I knew I left on a Monday but what day was today..?
