Cammy woke up a few hours later. The doctors had been in twice already to check on her. Her shoulder was healing up nicely. It looked pretty bad with all the stitches holding her skin together, but the doctors assured it would heal up and fade to small scars.
"Grace?" Cam mumbled.
"I'm right here, Cammy." I brushed her hair back and stroked her cheek.
"How's my shoulder? It hurts." She winced as she moved and turned to look at me, her eyes fluttered open.
"The doctor said they were able to piece it all back together. You will need to take it easy and go to physiotherapy to make sure there is no permanent damage. He said there was a lot of crushed bone." I explained quietly as she nodded.
"Okay. What time is it?" She asked, looking around.
"It is 2:30 in the morning, honey." Mum said, standing. "I'm so glad you are okay." Tears filled her eyes as she came to stand next to her. She leaned in and pressed a kiss to her forehead. "I'll go get the doctor, I'll be right back, sweetheart." She kissed her again and then left the room.
Cammy yawned and shuffled closer to me as we waited for the doctor to come. He came in and repeated what I told her about physio. He inspected her sutures and took her blood pressure and temperature. Nodding as he wrote everything down. He gave her some pain medication and sent a nurse in with more blankets. She passed back out shortly after the meds kicked in, I looked back at my mum and Gabriel.
"I'm going to stay here. You two should go get some sleep, I'll let you know when she wakes in the morning." I said, and my mum nodded and stood coming to give us both a kiss.
"I love you, baby girl. Let me know when you two are up, I'll join you for breakfast. Tomorrow we have to do the crowning ceremony. Many wolves are stuck around for it." She sighed then gave a small smile before leaving, I looked at Gabriel.
"I'm good right here, little Mate, I slept in these chairs for weeks. One more night won't hurt." He said, stretching out, pulling the blanket up to his neck, smiling.
I just shook my head and reached for the light switch as I pulled the blanket up around Cammy and I. I didn't have a great sleep between the quiet beeping of her heart monitor, Gabriel's occasional snore, and not having room to roll over. I decided to slip out of bed, not being able to get comfy.
It was still early, the sun was just beyond the horizon, it must be close to 5:00. Not many would be up at this hour. Breakfast wasn't served until 7:30. This pack lived a bit more spoiled lifestyle than Gabriel's, we liked to sleep in. I chuckled to myself.
Gracie, let's go for a run. My wolf wanted to run, we used to run daily and we have been very lazy lately, she was going crazy.
Yes, let's go, we should be able to get a long run in and a quick shower before Cammy is up.
I turned and headed for outside and walked across the lawn to the trees. I quickly stripped out of my dress, hung it on a branch, and shifted. My wolf lazily stretched and sniffed the air, there was many scents that were unfamiliar. Visiting wolves must have been out here.
We need to keep an eye out. Just because they are guests doesn't mean they are all friendly. I warned my wolf.
I know Grace, but with the royal guards on patrol, we shouldn't have an issue.
We started at a slow trot as we warmed up and stretched our limbs, slowly picking up speed until we were running. We ran through the trails we frequently used. It would be a while before we would be running here again. We would have to make new trails in our new pack. I let my wolf have control and cleared my mind. It didn't take long for our minds to sync. Doing so, I found we seemed to not tire out as easily as we have been.
