I felt a sense of calm wash over me that turned to dread in an instant. The amount of wolves in this clearing was 100 to 1. Those are impossible odds...
Arthur tightened his grip on my hand and pulled me along with him as we walked down a set of steep stairs that led to the clearing. I could hear water and looked over to see a waterfall coming down off the rocky cliff. I took a mental note of it as we walked towards Gabriel and the wolves he brought. I limped along with him, keeping my eyes on the black wolf.
As we got closer, I let my eyes wander to look at the wolves he brought, I didn't recognize all of them but most. Eli's sandy wolf was on his right side, and I saw Axel's grey wolf to his left. The wolves that were training that morning were scattered along the left side of the group. I looked to the right to see Felix and then noticed a few of the wolves were here from the royal protection guard. Of course, my family would send help.
The rogues cleared a path and backed up from the group, leaving a larger gap between where we stood and where Gabriel was. We were on either side of the clearing now, and it was with our wolfs sight and hearing we could be so far away away still talk. Gabriel kept looking between the two of us. Confusion and anger are what I gathered from his face.
"Hello, son."
I saw many wolves look in shock between Arthur and Gabriel. He let out a menacing growl.
"Is that any way to treat your father after all this time? And to behave in front of a Princess?" he chided, shaking his head. This was a game to him. "I was shocked to hear the little Princess had gone to your pack, I couldn't figure out why. I thought maybe you also learned of the powers her wolf had and wanted to take over. But I was also told the King asked you to marry his eldest daughter to succeed the throne. There isn't much that would get a man to not immediately take that offer, so then I started racking my brain for an idea, and then one popped into my head. She must be your mate," I saw Axel, and some of the wolves gathered look at their Alpha in shock. Only a few people knew. "But when she arrived here, I saw no mark on her neck, meaning you hadn't marked her, and your wolf would have done that by now. So why aren't you preparing for a wedding with Princess Camilla and why are you here?"
They just stared at each other.
"She is the key you know, her and her white wolf. They will bring harmony and peace to the land as we unite as one large pack." His voice thundered around as he spoke, telling the group his plan. "She will become my Luna, and we will rule over our new pack."
Before he could continue, Gabriel stepped forward, snarling and snapping his jaws at his father. Arthur brought a knife to my throat. It burned my skin as he held it there, a silver blade. He thought this through, apparently.
"I think I will mark her in front of you." He grinned at his son, and Gabriel came closer, growling louder. "Ah ah ah my dear son, if I can't have her, no one will. Her power is mine." He pressed the knife harder against my throat, and it drew blood.
Grace, if he marks us, we might die! Only our mate should mark us! My wolf said quickly.
Something caught my attention out of the corner of my eye. A wolf was slinking up through the group to stand in the front, their lips pulled back as her teeth were bared. Her fur seemed to be quivering with anger, my sister!
Cammy... I breathed. I'm so happy to see you.
Tears filled my eyes as I looked at not only her but all the wolves that came to my rescue.
Gracie, can you shift? Are you okay? She asked
I am a little banged up but I should be able to shift, they were giving me silver to suppress my wolf, she isn't at full strength yet but they still think she is gone so I at least have that to take them by surprise. Cammy he plans on starting a war, starting with wiping out our family... he needs to be taken out, but there are 5000 rogues here that he commands.
