MATURE CONTENT

Myra and I stood outside the office door again, and I could hear them chatting about Cammys' challenge next week. It didn't seem as tense as before but still not friendly. I'm not sure how Gabriel was even conversing with them, but he, like myself, has a role to play. He is the Alpha, so he must have to set aside his feelings for now. I'm sure he wants to rip out their throats for even suggesting I battle someone. I take a deep breath and plaster on a smile before Myra knocks and opens the door for me.

"I hope I didn't keep you men too long!" I say as sweet as I can. "I brought your coffee and some cake if you're hungry." Two wolves inclined their head as I entered. Connor just stared at my chest. What was wrong with this guy...

Myra grabbed Eli's coffee and a piece of cake and went to hand it to him. I passed out coffee to Alpha Roman, his nephew Connor, and walked over and gave their guard Brutus his. He gave a small, kind smile, and the cup practically disappeared in his large hand. He thanked me, and I turned to set the tray over on a side table. I grab Gabriel's coffee and cake and walk over to him, placing it on his desk in front of him. I stand next to him, but he pulls me down into his lap and nuzzles into my hair, wrapping his arms around me.

"Thank you, little Mate." He whispers in my ear, and I shiver, blushing slightly. He kisses my shoulder and then sits up to grab his coffee.

I grab the fork and steal a bite of his cake before offering him a bite, and his chest rumbled in appreciation.

"Grace, I have to say I think this cake tastes even better now than this morning, I'm still waiting on a cheesecake to show up at my door, though." Eli winked, I gave him a smile at the compliment.

"You made this cake?" Conner piped up, his voice was irritating. "A princess working in the kitchen? How...quaint, does this pack not have adequate staff?" He scoffed, and I felt Gabriel tense under me and let out a warning growl.

"Do you have a problem with me helping out the hard-working staff of this pack?" I sat up straighter and turned to face him, my wolf coming out. "Do you take an issue with the fact that I showed some appreciation for what everyone does around here and baked them a treat to have with breakfast? I would hate to see how the wolves of your pack are treated with an attitude as poor as that. Without the wolves that we have here to cook, clean, and take care of this place, we would be nothing. I would watch your mouth if I were you. Most gracious wolves would offer a simple thank you when given something."

I looked down on him giving a cold smile cocking my head to the side a bit, I have no use for wolves who think they are better than others. That's the first time I've told a stranger off, though. I could feel my blood pressure go up.

Oh, he deserves worse Gracie, he is such an idiot. My wolf growled.

His uncle looked angry and embarrassed, and I watched his eyes glaze over, and Connor looked angrily at me before dropping his gaze. I think he got in trouble, I laughed to myself, and my wolf was yelling profanities at him.

"I'm sorry, Your Highness, please accept my apology, and thank you for going out of your way to bring us some refreshments and seeing to having rooms made up for us." He said quietly, I just nodded and went back to feeding Gabriel.

"Fuck that was hot little Mate, you have my permission to tell them off all you want." He whispered quietly in my ear, I turned and gave him a grin.

"Who said I needed your permission?" I whispered back.

I winked and gave him another bite. It was quite quiet while everyone had their cake and coffee, just small conversation about nothing in particular. I was over the awkward silence, I was the reason they were there yet no one has spoken to me about it.
