I run out of the office and down the hallway as fast as my legs will carry me. I mind-link Camilla right away.

Cam, where are you? Tell me where you are and I'll be there in a minute, we need to talk!

I could feel her anger coming through the mind-link. She was seething.

I'm down by the river, Grace.

I passed the lawn. It was darker now with clouds lazily drifting in front of the moon. The darkness was nothing for my heightened sight, though. Having my wolf aided me in many ways, increased senses came in handy. I quickly ducked behind a tree to take off my dress. If she was down by the river, that was quite a distance away, and it would be faster to get to her by shifting. I called my wolf forward, and she was ready to go, we landed on all four paws. She hadn't been out in a couple of days, so she happily stretched her legs. She, of course, heard the entire conversation that went on in the office and was yelling in our mind as we made our way to the river.

How dare he arrange a marriage for your sister! She screamed. Finding our mate is sacred to a wolf. They are our other half, and they make us stronger in every way! To be denied that for power is enraging, your father is a piece of work.

I tried to calm her, but in all reality, I was just as angry at my father.

I know I just hope we can work out a solution. Let's find her quickly. I'm sure she's more hurt than we are. This is her mate and future happiness being taken away.

My wolf let out a sad whine and picked up the pace running towards the river. We could smell my sister's wolf she smelled like honeysuckles and cinnamon. We broke through the trees, and I saw her laying next to the river. Her wolf was beautiful, but she looked devastated her emerald eyes were clouded over as she watched the water. She slowly lifted her head as we got closer, her rich mahogany fur shaking out around her head. My wolf went and laid next to her, sharing in her pain, giving her soothing licks to the side of her face. After a few moments, my sister's wolf returned a lick as a comforting thank you.

We laid there in silence for a while. It looked like her and her wolf were having a conversation, so I let them be for a moment.

I gazed down into the slow-moving river, watching our reflection ripple in the waters movement. My wolf stood out easy to see in the water compared to my sister's darker wolf. My wolf had silver eyes that glowed in the moonlight, her fur was almost completely white, we had black lines coming from the corners of our eyes heading towards our ears and covering the tips in black too, my sister always jokes saying that my wolf is wearing makeup.

It felt peaceful out here listening to the river. This was our spot to come when we needed to get away from our crazy family life. It was also in this place that we were gifted our affinities. Our father to this day doesn't believe us saying we have our abilities because of our bloodline. He is a stubborn old man...

When I turned five and Camila was almost eight years old, we were sitting here one night looking at the constellations and felt a presence. It was a very calming presence, and we were not nervous. A woman's velvety voice spoke to us in our minds. She said her name was Nyx, the goddess of night. She told us a story of two young sisters who would one day make great changes to the world and that she would do her part by bestowing on each of us an elemental gift. She first spoke to Camilla.

"With your brilliant red hair and equally fiery disposition, I will give you the fire affinity. You can call it at will and mold it with your mind. Fire can bring light and warmth but also destruction. It will serve you well, my strong girl." She then spoke to me.
