And so, one month passed by quickly with no missions for me as I kept placing first during our training. I developed my strength and became a reliable subordinate. Certain things happened that I can not puzzle into a whole... My 18th birthday came. The darkest night of the year.
In the afternoon I was awaken from my sleep by Tristan in order to go to the training grounds. He said he has a special birthday present for me. I honestly am afraid. He is not the type for sweet gifts after all. We greet Ean as we arrive and he teaches us martial arts. Our former members are only 5 by now. The rest died during the last month. Most of them were executed because they couldn't accomplish their mission. Ever since then, a couple of newbies arrived but none of them seem to be strong willed enough to last here. I adapted to the circumstances rather quickly. We finish training at midnight, as the advanced killer Ean dismisses us. Tristan grabs my hand almost instantly and drags me to the hole in the barrier. Whenever others were on missions we would sit there and talk the whole night. I used to live for those moments when I could freely talk about what was on my mind without having to worry about betrayal. Once we pass the barrier I follow him for half an hour towards a cliff. Beneath there is water. Above there are stars. What did he want to show me here? I say it out loud and earn a chuckle from my blonde friend. "Be patient princess. You need to earn your present first." Wow I am not an expert since I have never received a gift before but I feel like this is not how it's supposed to be given. I freeze as he points towards the water. "We need to jump." Haha that is a bad joke. It is...right? But his expression shows no sign of a laughter. Aside from my lack of navigation skills, my biggest weakness are heights. "I can't" I tell him with a fearsome expression in my eyes. "Alright...we don't have to do that." He sais while giving me an aprupt hug. I return it when he suddenly takes a few steps further and jumps down from the cliff, still embracing me tight. I was even to scared to scream. It only took seconds until we fell into the water. Tris saves me from drowning once again and we come up towards the surface. "Go to hell!" I cough while punching that amused prankster. "Aren't you happy? Without my help you would have never jumped." He states with his green eyes staring at mine. I mean he is not wrong but that does not mean I'm glad he gave me a heart attack. Tristan continues : "It was worth it. Here is my present. Just turn around. Happy birthday Roxanne." I do as he orders and see it. The white crystals reflecting the stars into the sky, creating a beautifull color sheme. As if this was a fairytale. This is the beginning of a crystal cave. I follow him inside and see even more of the beautifull sparkles. Now I am the one to surprise Tris with a hug. "It's incredible... thank you so much Tristan." I whisper in his ear. We sit down together for a few more hours when my friend breaks the silence : "There is actually a favor that I would like to ask you. Tomorrow I want you to accept a mission. Succeed and come back. This way you will most likely get a promotion as a progressive killer." I simply nod. It is probably part of his avenging plan and I promised to help him so I will surely stick to my words. We went back to the chamber when the sun was rising and I made my way to the castle in order to receive my mission. This time I have a specific place and more information on the target. It is a prince from the west. Quite easy. This will be done in a few days. I take the diary and visit Miya in order to get Keria. Afterwards I take my leave.
Alice was silent for a whole month. She was following Roxanne that night out of curiosity and ended up hearing what she talked about with that weird blonde. He is a human... and a traitor on top of that. Alice has debated about wether or not she should tell master but thought it would be best if Roxanne would not get involved. She decided to shut up back then...
As Tristan noticed the absence of his friend he started making plans for his final act. He would kill the murderer of his clan and get his revenge. His original plan was to receive help from Roxy and escape with her afterwards but during the night he opened up to her, someone was eavesdropping. Someone with such a small amount of presence that his friend didn't notice. But he did. And he decided that he would not drag the only person he loves in this cruel world down with him. As she already said: If a human dies, fate will not let them down. They will get reincarnation until they have no regrets left. However Black Stones are the enemy of fate. They cannot go to the afterlife nor get reincarnated. They will be stuck between the underworld and death forever. This is the punishment they receive for existing. And for going against the laws of this world. So if he doesn't make it out alive... at least they will not suspect Roxy. She will be far away after all. As Tristan makes his final preperations he grabs his stolen weapons and leaves.
