The week goes on and as predicted, I barely see Scott. It's such a relief and the thought of him being back in my life is much less daunting when our paths dont cross. However I do see a lot of Liam which I'm grateful for. It has been only a week since Liam moved into his office but things between us have escalated notably. I find myself in his office every single morning without fail. I figured out that his new office is perfectly on route to my office. (Well, it's a little lengthy and a slight detour from my usual route, but Liam is worth it.) I take the journey every morning and discover that if I make enough noise while walking past, he usually notices and strikes up a conversation or hollers us over. Granted, he made the first move. The morning after I did some behind the scenes photography, Keira came back to mine and stayed the night. As I gave her a lift into work, we walked to our office together deep in conversation. Liam must have heard us, because when we walked past he called us inside. We ended up chatting for a few minutes, leaving me wanting much more. That night - on the way out - I popped my head around his office door for part two without Keira. Ever since he's been talking to me more often, my confidence has shot up in turn. He's much more of a friend to me than he ever was before.
From then on, I've been with him every morning and evening, both before and after work. Having him bookending my day is the most blissful feeling. The butterflies in my stomach have done nothing but intensify since the moment we began developing some sort of relationship. I am still so unsure of what we are or what we could become, though the fact that he has made no move to sleep with me while keeping up the flirty playful act speaks volumes to me. His office is where we have begun something that could turn into everything I've ever dreamed of. Starting my day with meaningless or meaningful conversation is a blessing and my body has learnt when I'm close to him. It reacts every time on cue. Like now, as we go about our usual morning routine.
"I'd love to be a singer or any kind of entertainer really." Liam nods, grinning up at me.
As usual I swing my legs contentedly, sitting on the desk opposite his with a huge smile across my face. Maybe he really will change for me after all. I am careful to keep my thighs pressed together, as the dress I'm wearing is a little shorter than usual. I have bought a few riskier dresses since we've been talking. I hope it's having the desired effect. Especially this daring red number which is also quite low on the chest. I grip the desk with my palms either side of my thighs and lean forward, ignoring the way his eyes widen slightly. He recovers fast.
"An entertainer?" I question the gorgeous man sitting intently in front of me.
"When I lived in Spain for a year, I worked as part of this holiday camp for kids. I thought I wanted to be a teacher, so it was part of my training." He explains.
I listen, fully engaged with his stories. The best part of our chats are when he tells me something about him I never would've guessed from his messy exterior. It is becoming increasingly more difficult to match him with his reputation as days go on, though I hope this is a side to him that only I have seen.
"Every night, there was this entertainer guy who sang for the kids. One day, he quit unexpectedly."
"I wonder why?"
"Drugs." Liam nods bluntly, earning him a small giggle from me. "I filled in for him, singing on the stage in front of some kids."
"I didn't know you had a voice." I tease him.
"There's a lot you don't know, Davenport." His statement hostile, yet his tone so soft and inviting.
"Would you fill me in?"
"I'd love to." He cocks his brows at me.
I can't help but giggle like a schoolgirl. There's something about this atmosphere we've recently unlocked. My skin tingles in his presence and I have to resist the urge to close the distance between us and force my lips onto his. I have to remind myself we're not there yet, but we could be. This second chance thing is really working for us.
