As promised, the next day I drag Keira to Liam's office for more photography. She doesn't protest or roll her eyes as much anymore. It's quite heart warming that she is willing to water down her disdain for Liam when I'm around. She comments on how lovely I look, trying to ease the obvious nerves seeping out of me. I have made an effort, of course. I've wriggled into a little black dress and heeled boots that match. The dress is barely appropriate enough for work, clinging to my hips and waist so tightly I can hardly breathe in it. I'll have to skip lunch. To match this, I curled my hair fresh in waves and decided upon a natural makeup look which I hope makes me look effortless. It's ironic I went to so much of a struggle just to appear like I didn't try at all. Beauty standards are so odd, I never used to care. That was until Liam walked into my world and turned everything upside down.
Keira and I hover in the hallway but I tentatively hold back as we approach Liam's door. She notices, but doesn't question me, choosing to knock on the door for herself. So much has changed since I was last with Liam, it seems crazy to think It has only been a mere weekend. The anticipation washes over me as I wonder what will happen today. There's always something and things have shifted since he has admitted that he was getting attached to me. The revelation that he may feel the same for me makes my hands shake. it feels as if the floor is slipping from beneath me now that it's time to face him and his confession. Being behind a screen is much less pressurised. Plus I have time to think and type before I hit send. In person, I've only got one shot.
"Good morning ladies!" Liam chirps, seemingly in a rather upbeat mood.
He shoots me a cheeky glance as I scurry in behind Keira, his eyes burning my skin in such a fierce way that I have to redirect my eye contact. Keira grabs some sweets from his bowl and offers me one as she slumps on his desk so casually. Her confidence has always been something I've been jealous of. If only Liam's gawking didn't turn my legs to jelly.
"Another day of photography?" She asks, cutting through the tension with her sharp words.
"I may have another one for you in the next few weeks if you're not careful...." Liam chuckles, winking mysteriously at me.
Keira and I groan simultaneously but there's humour in the mannerism. I am only foe complaining. Excitement ripples through me and I have to hide it from the both of them. Having Liam scurry around for me is exhilarating. He's going through all this trouble just for more time with me.
"I'll put in a good word with Lesley!" He holds his hands up in a surrendering motion, making me giggle even more. Liam waving the white flag over Keira's stern expression will never not be hilarious. It seems men just crumble under Keira's sense of authority. Especially the men I've had a fling with...
"What is the job?" I enquire, nibbling some of the sugary snacks that Keira stole.
"We have an open event soon for new graduates, but we will have to stay late to photograph it. It will only take a couple hours."
"I'll do it." I smile, wrapping my arms around myself in subtle glee.
Liam's mouth opens, but his potential words are cut off by the sound of his phone ringing. His long fingers reach out for the receiver and he glances up at me, ocean eyes pouring into mine.
"I have to take this, can I meet you two in the studio?" He asks.
I nod and yank Keira off the desk, pulling her around the corner.
"The way he was looking at you made me nervous!" She whispers teasingly.
I dont have time to respond, so I just jokingly nudge her as we scurry down the hall and arrive at the studio. What greets us is complete and utter chaos. People are fumbling about to construct a set, engineers and floor managers are rushing around like headless chickens. It should startle me, but TV is often like this and I have become used to the adrenaline of always racing to finish something before transmission.
