"Hey guys, I hope my burgers ready." I walk out into the yard to see four of my favourite faces.

"Got you one right here, cupcake." I walk over to JJ grabbing my burger off him and tucking straight in.

"Thankyou! I'm starving." I say with my mouthful.

"How was the 'pool party'?" John B refers to the pool party sarcastically.

I shake my head grinning at him. "Wasn't the worst to be honest." I shrug.

"You're not gonna ditch us to go full kook now are you V?" Pope jokes.

"You know I would never." I assure them laughing along.

"I know you wouldn't." JJ winks playfully.

"How did you get here?" Kie all of a sudden asks.

"I walked?" I answer confusedly as they know I usually walk unless John B picks me up in the Twinkie.

"Did you walk with someone or did you walk alone?" Her lips are pursed and her face expressionless as her piercing eyes stare into me. What is she getting at? Did she see Rafe outside? Does she expect me to lie?

"With someone."

"Who?" She immediately questions without hesitation.

"Rafe, why?"

"Rafe walked you here?" John B exclaims as all three guys snap their heads to look at me in shock.

"Yeah my mom and his dad forced him because Topper was too busy with Sarah. Was so awkward walking here." I laugh nervously waiting to hear what the guys have to say.

"Didn't look awkward from where I was standing. Are you seeing him?" Kie continues to interrogate me, her tone assertive and malicious.

I scoff with wide eyes, shocked that she could assume something so absurd. "No, I'm not seeing Rafe and I never will be seeing Rafe. That's a stupid question if you know me at all. 'From where you was standing?' I'm sorry was you there?" I answer spitefully with my eyes narrowed on Kie.

"Okay guys, I think we should talk about something else." Pope tries to interfere and put out the upcoming fire.

"No, Pope. It's funny how this isn't the first time you've asked me about Rafe, is it kie? It's funny actually by the sounds of things you're either against me and want everyone else to be against me or you like Rafe yourself. So which one is it?"

Her eyes go wide and she scoffs shaking her head. "I'm not against you V, I just think it's awfully funny how you're spending so much time with the kooks and whenever Rafe's around you're always with him!"

"What do you expect! We grew up together, Kie! Our houses are on the same street! I'm best friends with his sister! He's best friends with my brother!" I yell at her as if these reasons should be good enough excuses for the fact me and Rafe are always together when he's around. I don't know what it is, it's like we just gravitate to each other. Like we can't leave each other alone.

"Just weird if you ask me." She stands up from her seat storming off towards the house.

"If it's weird then tell me why I'm going on a date with a guy tomorrow?" I shout at her before we hear the door slam after her.

There's a long awkward silence. The guys don't know whether to speak or not. I notice them glance in my direction before quickly turning away.

"Soo... who you going on a date with?" JJ breaks the silence.

I remember Luke from country club and the thought of going on a date with him tomorrow mentally drains me. "He's called Luke."

JJ raises his brows. "You're not dating my dad are you?" He grins jokingly.

"Shut up geek, of course it's your dad." I joke back and we all laugh.

The silence returns and I realise I best leave instead of making the night awkward for everyone else. I let out a frustrated sigh standing up. "I'm gonna go home." I tell them defeatedly.

"What why?" JJ is the first to talk.

"I can't stay here with her. She's obviously got a fucking problem with me so I'll see you guys when she's not around." I don't even say goodbye, instead I walk away. I walk around the house instead of through it before heading towards home.

The sky is pitch black, the only light I have to see is the flickering street lamps. The loud silence is deafening. My light footsteps sound like constant thunder with each step.

I'm watching my feet instead of watching where I'm walking hoping I'll suddenly appear at my front door.

Oof! I walk into something. No, someone. I jump back in fear almost falling over, they grab me and help me regain my balance.

"Nessa." A familiar voice says my name. A voice I would know anywhere.

"Rafe?" I look up to meet his eyes under the dimly lit street lamp.

"Where are you going?"

"Home." I sigh gloomily.

"I thought you was staying at John B's" He looks down at the floor seeming disinterested.

"Me and Kie had a fight." I shrug.

His face snaps up to look at me. "You and kie? About what?"

I look at him strangely. Why all of a sudden is he interested after I mention kie? Why is he bothered what we argued about?

"She was just pissed off the fact that you walked me to John B's and she was pointing out the fact she always sees us together."

He scoffs dramatically. "Why's she being weird. We can talk if we want to talk."

"Yeah I know, she'll be over it soon she's probably just tired." I shrug. I suddenly question myself what he's doing up on the cut still when he left me at John B's an hour ago.

"Wanna come stay at mine again?" He blurts out with a smirk plastered across his face as he looks down at me, I look at him like he's out of his mind. Wait...

"Are you high?" I ask him seriously, looking into his eyes. He doesn't respond, he just laughs. "You are, aren't you? That's why you're still on the cut, you've been at Barry's haven't you?" I shake my head looking at him in disgust.

"Come on Ness, let's go back to mine." He grabs my hand but I pull it away immediately. I would love nothing more than to go back to Rafe's house and fall asleep in his arms again. But I can't. I can't keep adding fuse to something that will always be... nothing.

"No, Rafe! I'll see you tomorrow, when you're sober." I stress before storming off and leaving him to call after me.
