I go to find Luke to explain how Rafe knew the exact answer to my question when I see him stood in the kitchen.
"Luke, I'm sorry about Rafe. About him knowing the answer to that-"
"Why does he even know the answer to that Vanessa. Have you just been lying to me?" He interrupts and yells at me angrily.
Understanding his angry expression I try to explain once again. "It looks bad I know but-"
He interrupts me again. "Yeah it does look bad. I should've fucking known from the second time you made me look like an idiot with Rafe. You just can't keep away from him. I know you were alone with him upstairs. I didn't want to believe it but him knowing the answer to that question just tells me everything I need to know. You're a fucking slag!"
Rafe POV:
I head for the kitchen to get myself another beer when I notice that Luke guy practically drowning in his tears stood with my Nessa. He looks livid and Nessa looks upset.
I go over and catch the end of their conversation. "You're a fucking slag!" He yells in her face.
I don't hesitate before getting in his face and shoving him back. "What the fuck man!"
He realises it's me and he looks even more angry. "You knew we were dating right?" He asks me genuinely serious.
"Yeah?"
He scoffs. "I got a question."
I look at him waiting for his question wanting to punch him in the face for disrespecting my Nessa.
"Did you fuck her?" He looks behind me at Nessa and then back to me.
"What? No." I furrow my brows confused why he'd ask that.
His nostrils start flaring and his cheeks burn scarlet red. "You tryna tell me you took her into that room and nothing happened?"
Oh shit. How does he know we went into that room. Gossip spreads like wildfire in this fucking place. It looks bad but we didn't do what he thinks we did. We only made out. Twice.
"No." I answer honestly.
"I don't believe you." He seethes.
I start to get mad at the way this kid is speaking to me with his attitude after treating Nessa like he did. "I don't think it's any of your fucking business to be honest with you." I square up to him but he stands down.
"That just tells me everything I needed to know. What I already knew." He glances at Nessa in disgust before turning and walking away.
"Are you okay?" I turn to Nessa who also looks angry.
"Why did you say that Rafe!" She starts yelling at me.
"He was pissing me off?" I explain.
"Now he's gonna think we did something!"
"We did do something." I tell her referring to the two make out sessions.
"Barely. It was nothing." She plays it down. Ouch.
"You didn't want it to be nothing." I add referring to her trying to take my shirt off.
"Get over yourself!"
"Why do you care what he thinks, you don't like him!"
"Because I don't want him painting me out to be a bad person. He wouldn't let me explain!"
"You were gonna tell him we kissed?"
"Obviously not. He didn't need to know that. I was gonna explain how you knew about my scar." I think about her scar. The scar I accidentally gave her when we were kids.
"He doesn't deserve an explanation if he wasn't willing to listen to you. He doesn't deserve you Ness." I find myself admitting to her.
"You don't deserve me either!" She yells before storming off into the crowd.
"I know I don't deserve you." I say out loud to myself watching her walk away.
That's when realisation kicks in. I don't deserve her. She deserves better than me. I have to let her find better. To drown my sorrows knowing I'll never get a chance to be with the girl that drives me crazy, I go to find the familiar brunette that's obsessed with me.
Nessa POV:
We stumble through the doors of the Cameron's home. Ward and Rose are at my house. Me and Sarah stumble and fall on top of each other bursting into a fit of drunken laughter.
An angry Topper sighs helping up his girlfriend but leaving his sister on the floor. Kelce helps me up and I hold onto his shoulder following everyone to the living room.
"That party was so fun! Let's do it again tomorrow!" Sarah exclaims.
"I don't think you girls are gonna wanna leave your beds tomorrow." Kelce jokes with a hint of truth.
"Shall we have a game of truths?" Sarah suggests out loud. All of toppers friends agree. Rafe isn't no where to be seen, not that I care.
"V?" My best friend looks at me. "Anyone you like right now?"I think about Luke and how we ended on bad terms. I think about Rafe and how we always seem to end on bad terms. "No I fucking hate boys." I answer honestly just as we hear the front door open and close.
The group falls silent as we wait for a face to appear.
Rafe appears in the living room doorway, his arm wrapped around that clingy brunette I know all too well.
I can feel Sarah looking up at me expecting me to react. But I remain expressionless. There's nothing else I can give to Rafe. Not a word, not a reaction, not any time of day.
"Don't bother me. I'm upstairs." Is the only thing he states before disappearing from the doorway taking the smirking brunette with him.
Feeling the bile rise to the back of my throat I decide to end the night here getting up from the chair and not even announcing my exit before closing the front door behind me and crossing the street to get home.
"Nessie?" My mum questions if it's me who has just walked through the door.
"Yeah?" I yell through to her with my foot on the bottom step.
"Everything okay?"
"Yeah I'm going to bed." I tell her before trudging up the stairs closing my bedroom door and throwing myself recklessly onto my bed whilst wiping away any random tears that seem to be falling down my cheeks.
