1942 - Brooklyn
The sun was setting in the sky, making it a beautiful mix of yellows, oranges, blues, and purples. Howard was finishing the initial idea for some expo he wanted to try, so I walked back to the hotel we were staying at while in Brooklyn alone. We were currently here for a few weeks for different meetings on Howard's inventions and different project ideas with the U.S Army. They think he can help them win wars.
I think they're idiots for not thinking of him sooner.
Rounding the corner, the sounds of shouting and glass breaking knock me out of my train of thought. I go over to the alleyway to check out the noise and see two guys picking on this scrawny little blond kid.
Now, I know I promised Howard I wouldn't start anything if I was to walk back alone, but technically I won't be starting anything... I'll just be finishing it.
"Hey, boys! Whatcha up to?" I ask in a clueless and helpless girl voice.
The two bigger guys looked over at me and it was almost frightening how fast their eyes went from anger to hunger.
"Hey there little lady, what are you doing out here all alone?" The taller boy with fiery red hair and freckles everywhere smirked, letting go of the little blond kid and walking over to me.
"Oh, I just heard a little scuffle and curiosity got the better of me." I shrugged, walking closer to the three.
"Is that so? Well, how about after we take care of this punk, you hang out with us tonight? We can all have some fun." The other boy - a shorter, stalkier brunette said walking away from the beat-up blond.
"That sounds fun!" I said with a fake smile. "Sadly though, I have to take care of two assholes who don't know how to pick on someone their own size." I pouted. I then kicked the redhead where no man should be kicked, making him fall to his knees, and then kneed him in his face, knocking him out quickly.
"You next?" I asked the brunette, who then took off running.
"Hey, let me help you there." I crouched down and helped the blond up.
"Thanks. I had that though." He panted.
"Yeah, I'm sure you did buddy." I chuckled. "Let me help you home, I can patch you up there too."
"Thanks, but I think I can make it back on my own." He said, almost falling on his ass as he moved away from me. I thankfully caught him before he hit the ground.
"Yeah, cause you could definitely make it five feet without any help." I rolled my eyes. "Now come on, you gotta show me where you live."
After a few minutes of blondie giving me directions on where he lives and me practically carrying him all the way, I thought of something I should have asked long ago.
"I just realized, I never caught your name."
"Oh, yeah. It's Steve. Steve Rogers. I never caught yours, either."
"I'm Olivia. Olivia Stark."
'Why did I use my real name? I have a fake one for a reason.' I mentally kicked myself.
"Nice to meet you, Olivia."
"Nice to meet you too, Steve."
'Guess I dodged a bullet there...'

"Home sweet home," Steve said, pushing his apartment door open.
He led me inside and into the bathroom and sat on the toilet lid.
