Chapter (24) Twenty-Four ~ ...the group under attack

"How did it go?" Natasha asked as I walked out of the room.

"Oh, you know. He started threatening me, I threatened him back... all in all, I think we made some great progress." I smirked as Nat chuckled.

"Yeah, well. Hopefully, I can help you out there."

"Well see," I yelled back, continuing to walk to the boy's playroom.

"Well, would you look at that? Nothings gone boom yet." I said as I walked into the lab.

"Hey, who sent the old lady in here? I thought you were watching Reindeer Games?" Tony glanced up from his screen, smirking at me.

"Yeah, well Fury wanted me to check up on you guys. Romanoff is having a turn with Loki now." I looked at the screens that were around the room, reading each of them to see what the two were working on. "How are you doing, Doc? Tony driving you green yet?"

"Um," I heard Banner let out a little chuckle. "Not yet. Though he did try earlier with a pointy stick."

"Don't worry, you get used to his poking and prodding pretty quick." I shrugged. "So Tony, found anything good yet?" I turned to the other man.

"I have no clue what you mean, auntie," Tony said, not taking his eyes off of the screen he was reading.

"Oh, so you didn't place a bug somewhere on the bridge when you first got here? I'm impressed." I sarcastically nodded.

"Loki means to unleash the Hulk. Keep Banner in the lab. I'm on my way. Send Thor as well." Natasha said over her comm.

"Yeah, well, guess I'm a changed man," Tony said, scrunching his face in confusion as he read another one of his screens. "Oh, and you were right. Rogers did hate being called a Capsical."

"What are you doing, Mr. Stark?" Fury asked, sauntering into the lab.

"Uh, kind of been wondering the same thing about you." Tony fired back, sitting on one of the desktops.

"You're supposed to be locating the Tesseract."

"We are. The model's locked, and we're sweeping for the signature now. When we get a hit, we'll have the location within half a mile." Doctor Banner pointed to the screen that showed the search process.

"Yeah, then you get your Cube back. No muss, no fuss. What is "Phase 2"?" Tony asked.

"Phase 2 is SHIELD uses the Cube to make weapons," Steve said, slamming an old Hydra weapon down on the table. "Sorry, computer was moving a little slow for me."

"Rogers, we gathered everything related to the Tesseract. This does not mean that we're making..."

"I'm sorry Nick." Tony cut Fury off, turning the large screen in front of him around for the rest of us to see properly and showing a new weapon. "What, were you lying?"

"I was wrong, Director. The world hasn't changed a bit." Steve said to Fury, before turning to me. "And I thought you knew better than this, Olivia."

"Yeah, you've been suspiciously silent during this, grandma. Hey, aren't you the head of engineering now?"

"Watch it, Tony." I glared at the man. "And I had no part in Phase 2. I've told Fury time and time again how it's an awful idea. After a while, he decided to put some bozo in my place to work on this so he could work on it without my input." I nodded to the screen.

"Did you know about this?" Banner asked Natasha when she and Thor walked into the room.

"You want to think about removing yourself from this environment, Doctor?"
