"You really think this is a good idea? I doubt that thing can even hold him." Sam complained for the millionth time, motioning to the vice that held Bucky's metal arm.
"It'll be fine." I rolled my eyes, leaning against the wall behind me. "And it's more of a precaution if anything. I should be able to hold him steady if something goes wrong."
"You better. He already tore the steering wheel off my car. I don't need him to tear off a limb of mine, too." He grumbled.
The sound of a groan made both of our heads shoot toward Bucky, seeing him start to wake up. His eyes slowly opened, looking over to see his trapped arm.
"Hey Cap!" Sam yelled, going to find Steve. Bukcy's eyes moved to me then, a look of recognition making me breathe a small sigh of relief.
"Olivia." He whispered, his voice hoarse. Both of us then looked towards Steve, who had practically run into the room. "Steve."
"Which Bucky am I talking to?" Steve asked.
"Your mom's name was Sarah. You used to wear newspapers in your shoes." He lightly chuckled, making me smile.
"Can't read that in a museum."
"Just like that, we're supposed to be cool?" Sam asked.
"What did I do?" Bucky asked.
"Enough."
"Oh, God, I knew this would happen." Bucky sighed. "Everything Hydra put inside me is still there. All he had to do was say the goddamn words. I should have taken Alex's offer and stayed in Asgard."
"Asgard? When were you in Asgard?" I asked, brows furrowing.
"Who was he?" Steve asked, ignoring my questioning.
"I don't know."
"People are dead. The bombing, the setup, the doctor did all that just to get 10 minutes with you. I need you to do better than "I don't know."
Bucky took a second, thinking back to his time with the false doctor.
"He wanted to know about Siberia. Where Alex and I were kept. He wanted to know exactly where."
"Why would he need to know that?" I asked.
"Because I'm not the only Winter Soldier."
"What do you mean? Who were they?"
"Their most elite death squad. More kills than anyone in Hydra history. And that was before the serum."
"They all turn out like you?" Sam asked, arms crossed as he leaned against the wall.
"Worse."
"The doctor, could he control them?" Steve asked.
"Enough."
"Said he wanted to see an empire fall."
"With these guys, he could do it. They speak 30 languages, can hide in plain sight, infiltrate, assassinate, destabilize. They can take a whole country down in one night, you'd never see them coming. They actually taught Alex everything she knows."
Sam walked over to Steve and me, gaining both of our attention. "This would have been a lot easier a week ago."
"If we call Tony-"
"No, he won't believe us." Sam cut Steve off.
"Even if he did-" I tried, though Sam cut me off too.
"Who knows if the Accords would let him help."
"We're on our own." Steve sighed.
"Maybe not." Sam shrugged. "I know a guy."
