Early the next morning, just about the whole camp found out what Peggy and I had done to help Steve on his suicide mission. Peggy and I were chewed out by the Colonel for about an hour or so before he gave us private one-on-one screaming.
It was now around eleven, going on noon when Howard was finally able to storm into my workspace, looking madder than when I told him I joined the SSR.
"What the hell were you thinking?!" He screamed, marching up to me.
'Oh boy,' I thought, rolling my eyes 'This'll be fun.'
Bucky's POV ~
Steve said the camp shouldn't have been that much farther, but he also said that about five miles back.
"Are you sure we're going the right way?" I checked with Steve for the dozenth time.
"Pretty sure. Would have gotten there sooner though if those Hydra soldiers didn't bust Oliv's transponder."
"Since when is she Oliv?" I asked. I didn't know those two had gotten so close."You know how I told you about the serum that made me like this?" He gestured to his new body.
"Yeah..."
"Well, she was the one that made the capsule I was put in for the procedure." Steve trailed off, not looking me in the face.He was leaving something out.
"And..."
"...She kind of went through the same thing right before me..."I stopped in my tracks, before rushing back up to Steve as he kept walking.
"So, does she look like you do?" I asked. I wanted to be prepared for if she also had a drastic change like Steve.
"Well, she got taller and more muscular like I did, but not to the same extent." He started to explain as I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. "You know how she was probably about 5'3? And how you could just barely see a bit of muscle in her arms?"
"Yeah," I nodded. I may have been away from her for a while, but I somehow still remember exactly what she looks like. Well, looked like, I guess."She's probably more 5'8, and her muscles are more prominent. She looks good." He shrugged.
"Wow," I whispered. "And she helped build the thing that helped make you guys look like this?"
"Yep. She also built the plane used to get me to that Hydra base you all were at, and honestly probably made the transponder too."
"She's something else," I mumbled."Well, looks like you'll be able to tell her that yourself."
"What do you mean?""We're here." Steve nodded in front of us, and at that moment I finally noticed the clearing up ahead.
"Holy cow," I whispered as we all started walking faster. The soldiers in the camp all came to get a look at the commotion and would move out of the way when seeing how we kept walking, making our way to the center of the camp, where we were met by a higher-up and a woman in uniform beside him.
Steve saluted the man, before saying "Some of these men need medical attention." The wounded men then started to be escorted to what I assumed to be the infirmary tent.
"I'd like to surrender myself for disciplinary action." Steve continued.
"That won't be necessary." The Colonel said, looking toward the wounded that were being led away.
"Yes sir." I could hear the smile on the punk's face without even having to look at him.
"Faith huh?" He commented to the woman that was with him, turning and making his way to the infirmary "Someone make sure nurse Liv is there helping!"
"You're late." The woman commented, walking up to Steve. I wonder if this is the girl, Peggy, and Steve had been talking about.
Steve pulled out the transponder, showing the big hole and busted antenna. "Couldn't call my ride."
"Hey!" I yelled out, getting everyone's attention. "Let's hear it for Captain America!" The group around us all started cheating for the hero of the hour. When things calmed down a bit, I finally asked a question I had since we stepped into the camp.
"Hey punk," I got Steve's attention. "Where is Olivia?"
Steve looked at Peggy, who responded for him.
"She's probably in her workshop. Though at the moment she may still be getting chewed out by her brother for helping you." She looked toward Steve. "He wasn't very happy about the events that happened last night."
I was about to ask where her workshop was when we heard loud gunshot-like bangs from inside one of the metal buildings close to us."Shit," Carter said, before speed walking over.
"What's in there?" I asked Steve."Olivia and Howard."
Olivia's POV ~
Howard had been hounding me for what felt like hours. He wasn't even trying to make a point anymore! Not like what he was saying before had any points, but still.
"Howard if you just keep yelling nonsense at me I will not hesitate to shoot you." I blankly said.
Instead of listening, he just continued to pace, spouting more nonsense on how they could have kicked me out from the stunt I just pulled and sent me away for testing since I had Erskine's serum in me.
I nodded my head, grabbed my gun that was in my holster, and shot right where he had been before he moved just in time.
That certainly shut him up.
"Did you just shoot me?!" He yelled, obviously in shock.
"No, I shot at you." I shrugged, putting my gun back in its holster on my covered thigh. Unlike Peggy, who wore skirts like females are supposed to, I was wearing some of the men's pants.
They were more practical for my line of work.
"I- just- what is wrong with you, Olivia?" He worked himself up into a yell.
"What is going on in here?" I heard a very familiar voice yell.
"I told Howard how if he didn't stop spouting nonsense, I would shoot him." I shrugged, turning my back to Howard and gathering some tools I needed to finish fixing one of the guns that had been jammed for a while.
"And let me guess, he didn't stop?" I voice I hadn't heard in far too long said.
"You would be correct, Sargent," I smirked, quickly turning to see him leaning against the doorway, Peggy in front of him and Steve just behind.
I quickly put the tools back down and ran past Howard, jumping into Bucky's arms the moment I got close enough.
"Jamie!" I held on for dear life, and it almost seemed like he was too. "I'm so glad you're okay! You are okay, right? Do you need a doctor? One of them is a friend of mine and works literal miracles, come on I'll take you to her." I let go and started to pull on his had to lead him to the infirmary tent, but was instantly pulled back into his chest."I'm okay, doll. Let the docs take care of the people who need it first, ok?" He chuckled.
"You're sure you're okay?" I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Never better, doll." He said, smiling so brightly it was hard not to believe him.
