"What... what the hell was that?" Natasha coughed, finally able to get her breathing under control.
"I... I don't know." My breathing became heavy as I stared at my hands. "That's never happened before."
"All right, let's just- let's just take a second to calm down. I think you getting so worked up is what caused... whatever that was... to happen.""I'm sorry." I breathed out. "I was just annoyed and I didn't know what was happening-"
"Olivia, it's okay." Natasha cut me off. "Come on, let's go see if we can find your nephew and Bruce. Maybe they can help." Natasha got up from the floor. I went to go help her up, before stopping myself, the fear of hurting her again crossing my mind."Yeah, okay." I nodded, crossing my arms over my chest. "Hey, Jarvis? Where's Tony and Bruce?"
"Mr. Stark and Doctor Banner are both in their lab.""Thanks," I mumbled, opening my door and heading towards the elevator, Natasha right behind me.
We wordlessly went into the elevator, Jarvis automatically taking us to the correct floor. The whole ride down was silent, with Natasha standing with her back to me in the front right of the metal box while I was in the back right.
When the doors finally slid open again, Natasha glanced back at me before walking out. I wordlessly followed the redhead, staying a step behind her the whole walk over. The closer we got, the louder the sound of voices and banging rang out.
"I'm just saying, why couldn't he just have stayed on Asgard? Why did the old man have to send him back here? And do you even trust this Alex girl to be able to handle him?" Natasha and I listened to Tony ramble as we entered the lab.
"Well, she handled Hulk pretty well. I trust her." I heard Bruce mumble.
"She's one of the best we have, Tony. She can do it." I nodded, gaining both men's attention.
"What are you two doing here?" The billionaire asked, furrowing his eyebrows and pointing his wrench between the two of us.
"Um..." I paused, not knowing how to explain what happened.
"Here, hey Jarvis, play the footage from Olivia's room. The part from just a few minutes ago." Natasha told the A.I.
"Wait, there are cameras in our rooms?" Bruce asked, looking uncomfortable.
"They automatically turn off for... certain things. Don't worry about it." Tony brushed off.
"I'm not- I'm not breaking down. I'm just annoyed that everyone is getting on me about this." My voice broke out, all of us paying attention to the holographic video.
"Olivia, I say this as your friend, you're losing it."
"I'm perfectly fine, Nat. Now, can you please leave? I want to be alone."
"I just want you to be happy, Oliv. And I know you aren't since you're still pining after a dead guy. You need to let go."
"Stop it.""No. You deserve better than just moping around your room all day when something like this comes up."
"I'm fine, Nat, now can you just drop it."
"No! I care about you, Olivia, and I want you to be happy. You are not happy!""Natasha, I am perfectly fine. I am happy with how everything is in my life. Now please, just leave."
"No. I want to make sure you're okay, but I can't do that if you lock yourself up in your room."
"Natasha-"
"No! You need help. I hate seeing you like this, Oli!"
"Natasha-"
"You are like my sister, Olivia, I'm just trying to help-"
"I don't need your help!" I watched myself throw my arm out, my eyes down making it so I couldn't see what I had done. I looked at Natasha in the video, struggling to breathe and barely even moving."Oliv" Her past self choked out. We all watched my head shoot up, realizing what I did as I moved my hand, making Natasha fall to the floor gasping for air.
"What... what the hell was that?"
"Yeah, what red said, what the hell was that? What did we just watch?" My nephew looked at us, even more, confused than before.
"That's what we were hoping you would tell us," I spoke up.
"Nat, what happened there, in the video? You seemed to just freeze up." Bruce asked, taking a few steps forward.
"It was like my whole body contracted, and all the air seemed to leave my lungs. It was the weirdest thing I ever felt." She shook her head, crossing her arms over her chest.
"What about you, Olivia? Did you... feel... anything weird right before this happened?" The doctor turned his attention to me.
"Um, I mean I felt this, like, pressure in my chest. And I guess it went away a bit after."
"All right," Bruce furrowed his brow in thought. "I know it might be a lot to ask, but can you think of anything you went through that could have caused this? I know you were experimented on for the super soldier serum. Could that be something?"My eyes immediately widened, the small memory of the odd-colored vial playing through my mind.
"I mean, this one vial was a different color than the others. I think it was purple while the others were blue." I shrugged.
"That's weird. Did you say anything to anyone at the time?"
"No. I ended up passing out afterward, and when I came to Steve was about to show up for his turn. And then everything happened with Doctor Erskin getting killed and Hydra... it just kind of slipped my mind.""Let's do a few tests, get some blood. Maybe we can look for anything besides the serum in your system.
"Yeah, yeah okay." I nodded, following Bruce to his medical station a room away, Tony and Natasha trailing behind.
~~
"What the hell?" Bruce mumbled as he pulled at the syringe in my arm, watching as nothing entered.
"Did you get the vein right?" Natasha asked, peeking over the doctor's shoulder.
"Yeah, just nothing's coming out..."
"What do you mean, nothing's coming out?" Tony asked, rolling his eyes. "There's no way you got the vein right if nothing is coming out. Try again. Or make red try it."
"I'm not a pin cushion, Tony." I glared at the man.
"Yeah, well, you'll have to be if you want to find out what's going on with you." He gave me a pointed look.
I grumbled a bit as Bruce took the needle out of my arm, trying another vein. When he couldn't get anything out, he tried my other arm but found he couldn't get anything out of that one either. Natasha even tried once on each arm, both times being unsuccessful.
"Okay, can we stop with the poking and prodding now? My arms hurt like hell." I scold, rubbing my soar arms.
"Yeah, we can stop." Bruce sighed, taking his glasses off and rubbing his face.
"Um, doc, when one gets poked with a bunch of needles, doesn't one tend to bleed from said needle?" Tony asked, staring down at my arms.
"Yeah, why?" He gave the other man a confused look.
"There's no blood coming out of her."
