The power you held
To make the waves within me
Roll, rise, surge
Creating tides,
Waters of raging storms
Or peaceful lakes.
The power you held
To make the birds within me
Flutter, fly, sing,
Creating swings,
Emotions flying like birds
Or drowning like a breath.
The power you held
To make sun within me
Shimmer, darken, sink
Creating colours,
Landscapes of bleeding skies,
Or hopeful horizons.
The power you held
To make the stars within me
Go on, off, back on
Creating sparks,
Freckles of hope scattered
Or light switches you played with.
The power you held
To make the heart within me
Burn, beat, break
Creating everything,
Alive like the wind
Or dead as stone.
And when She says,
Her voice snarling
Slithering like snakes around guilt
Around innocence and doubt
"Didn't you give him that power?"
I can feel myself falling into the pit I dug.
