Media training proved to be as boring as Sarah predicted, but it left her excited for the next thing on her timetable. On the 20th, Sarah did the photoshoot with Witch Weekly, which was a success.
She was going to be the September cover, which was an incredible first photoshoot to land. In the back of her mind, Sarah knew it was because of her mother, but she took every opportunity that came.
On the 23rd, her bedroom was crammed with people running around. Makeup artists, a stylist, hair dressers, her manager and manager's personal assistant were dashing in and out, performing various tasks.
Sarah was sat on the foot of her bed in a dressing gown, as someone dabbed powder onto her cheek, and strands of her hair were braided.
Over the hustle and bustle of everyone else, Sarah listened carefully to her manager, Lena, giving her the rundown of events for the evening.
"Okay, the red carpet will open at 6. The reporters arrive then. The guests arrive from 6:30 onwards. We're booked to arrive at 6:45. We're on the red carpet until 8, where the doors to the event open. The award ceremony finishes at 10, and we'll be leaving at 10:30," Lena explained.
She was already ready, dressed modestly for the event compared to the dress Sarah would wear. She suspected it was so attention didn't drift.
"What time is it now?" Sarah asked.
"10 to 6," Lena replied, without even having to glance at a clock.
Sarah nodded, as best as she could with makeup brushes doing pirouettes across her cheeks, anyway.
The makeup artist, who introduced herself as Persea, stepped back. She stared at Sarah, green eyes boring into Sarah's soul. Finally, after a tense moment, Persea turned to Lena.
"I am done," She stated in her assertive, monotone voice, twirling her makeup brush expectantly,
When Lena inspected Sarah, it was far more brief. Lena's eyes flew across Sarah's face, before nodding in approval.
"Perfect, thank you. Persea, you're free to go. Mrs Hill will have your payment by tomorrow evening," Lena shook Persea's hand.
Whilst Persea packed her brushes with a wave of her wand, Lena turned to Sarah.
"You need to get your dress on. It's six now. We must be leaving soon!" Lena commanded, gesturing vaguely in the direction of the clock on her bedroom wall.
Sarah did as she was told, escaping to the bathroom to slide into her gown for the evening, It also gave her a moment to think. She'd been surrounded by people all day. They had crammed their way into her personal space, hers snd Fred's bedroom specifically, and Sarah was starting to lose it.
Sarah unzipped the clothes bag that she had hung onto the bathroom door. Inch by inch, she revealed a blue dress. Sarah unveiled it fully, revealing a one-strap dress with a slit up the leg.
She slid on the dress. She waved her wand, and felt the zip do itself up on her back. Finally, Sarah braved a look into the mirror, and she wasn't disappointed in what she saw.
The dress hugged her curves nicely. The nude heels and sparkling, black clutch that the stylist gave to her accompanied the outfit well. Her makeup was exquisite, making her face appear sharper and more mysterious. She was glad that her hair would be out of her way too.
