Sarah hopped onto the train, excitement coursing through her veins. The smile was permanent on her features, she way beyond happy.
She was elated, really.
This very train, scarlet in colour, smoke heaping out its chimney, would be taking her somewhere magical. A place where the food was heavenly, the weather magnificent and the laughter infinite.
Hogwarts.
Sarah, jet-black hair in a ponytail, dressed in black jeans and some random slogan tee-shirt, brushed shoulders with other students as she winded through the narrow corridors.
It wasn't long before Sarah found her friends, who adored sitting at the back because that's where all the fun happened. In all honestly, Sarah didn't mind 'all the fun', it was just a bit of a walk.
"Hey guys," Sarah greeted, sliding the compartment door open with a bang! Her friends jumped in shock, fright or perhaps a mix of both. It made Sarah laugh, so it was worth it.
"I swear - my heart!" Angelina Johnson laughed, clutching her chest. Sarah dropped into the seat beside her, grinning at her horror.
"Not cool," Patricia Stimpson shook her head, but a ghost of a smile remained on her face. After Sarah scared her, Patricia's beech blonde hair had become askew. Whilst Sarah laughed at her hair, Alicia Spinnet walked in, the last of her little group.
"You just missed it! Scared them!" Sarah laughed. Alicia grinned, dropping into a seat next to Patricia. Once Sarah's laughter had died down, they went on with their usual chats.
"So, Patty? How was your summer?" Angelina asked, leaning her back against the window and propping her legs up on the spare seat.
There were six seats in this compartment, and they each took a corner so the spare seat could be used as foot stools, or somewhere to pile sweets.
Sarah mirrored Angelina's position, knowing it was comfortable.
"Decent, actually! Seeing my family in Puerto Rico was nice. I also met up with that muggle boy that I owled you all about," Patty finished, an dreamy look appearing on her face when she mentioned the boy. Sarah loved the way Patty said 'Puerto Rico'.
"Oh yeah? His name was John - " Alicia began, sending Patty the 'wiggly eyebrows' look.
" - Jake," Patty corrected, causing Angelina to laugh. Sarah grinned, wondering how you could get John and Jake mixed up.
"Same thing! My summer was spent on my broom, prepping for this year's quidditch!" Alicia informed. Herself, alongside Angelina were two of the chasers on Gryffindor Quidditch team. Sarah hadn't missed a single one of their matches.
"Ooh! I got a new broom, only one model up though," Angelina said.
"You guys are talented, anyway. What's the world fastest broom gonna have on you two?" Sarah reassured, to which she received two very thankful smiles.
"So, Saz? How was your summer?" Angelina asked, kicking my foot lightly.
"Same old, same old! Got bored after the first week, watched Fresh Prince of Bel air, which I loved by the way," Sarah replied, just as rain began to slip down the window.
"Sounds like a lot of TV. Also, I forgot to mention how much I enjoyed watching the new Disney film that came out with you guys!" Patty squealed excitedly.
"The lion King?" Alicia asked.
"I'd have guessed it was called that seeing as the main cast of the film was lions," Sarah laughed. Alicia laughed too, rolling her eyes.
