I jerk up in bed suddenly as I hear a small tap on my window, since my bedroom is on the bottom floor, my mind automatically thinks of the worst case scenario, especially with the recent killings.

Another moment later and a tap happens again. I slowly crawl out of the comfort of my duvet and tip toe to the window, taking a deep breath and counting to three before I shove open the curtains and look outside.

But there's nothing there. Wait, I open the window and spot a small note on the windowsill, weighed down by a bar of my favourite chocolate.

'Meet me at the apple tree as soon as you read this.
-E'

I smile to myself as I recognise the handwriting, but a wave of worry also crashes into me as a small part of my brain questions if I can trust the wanted Eddie Munson.

I get dressed and quickly dash outside, careful not to disturb by sleeping parents, or worse, my brother Jason.

The garden outside seems scarier at night, even though I spend so much time out here during the day.

"Eddie?" I whisper, walking to the bottom of the garden near the trees.

A few twigs snap and I jump just as Eddie appears from behind a tree, I break into a grin and practically jump on him as his arms encircle my body.

"I missed you so much." Eddie mumbles into my hair, I squeeze my arms around his neck, holding back tears.

"You shouldn't be here, it's dangerous!" I whisper, leaning back to look into the dimly lit brown eyes.

"I know, I know, but I has to see you, I swear I didn't do it, I wouldn't ever hurt anyone, you know that-" Eddie rambles, throwing his hands up in surrender.

"Eddie, I know." I say, grabbing his hands and pulling him towards me.

He nods and gives me a goofy smile, which I copy.

"Let's go to the police, we can explain everything to them and clear your name." I suggest, but Eddie rapidly shakes his head.

"Nope, absolutely not. There's more to the...there's more to it than you could imagine" He solemnly says, and I give him a confused look.

"I swear I'll tell you everything when I can." He says, giving me an honest look, so I nod, trusting him.

He opens his mouth to say something else, but the quiet night is interrupted when Jason's voice calls out "Who are you taking to?"

I give Eddie a panicked look and wave him away, quickly turning to a fast approaching Jason.

"Nobody, I saw a deer and tried to stroke it." I shrug, mentally slapping myself for the stupid excuse.

I only just hear the smothered snort of laughter from Eddie hidden in the trees.

Jason gives me a look, but shakes his head and turns around, "Come inside. Now."

I flip my middle finger up to Jason's back, quickly turning back to Eddie and blowing him a kiss, before jogging to catch up with my brother.
