~hi please note I have no idea how hospitals really work lmao
Keishin had the music on as he makes his way over to the hospital. He grabs the sketchbook and pencil before locking the car and making his way inside.
He heads straight for the receptionist. "Hi, I'm here to see Kageyama. Room 15 right?" She nods and he heads straight for that room.
Keishin knocks on the door before coming in and finds that Tobio is already awake and sitting quietly on the bed, reading.
He put the book mark in and set it off to the side for now.
"Hey how are you doing?" He asks, feeling a little awkward. Kageyama stays silently, blinking back at him.
"Right, anyway I got you something. I don't know I just thought it might pass the time," Ukai hands over the sketchbook and pencil with the rubber.
Kageyama quickly flicks through it once before setting it off to the side, under the book he had been reading.
Ukai is starting to find the silence from the boy a little unsettling and awkward. He wished that Tobio would just say something, anything really.
"What the fuck is that?" He asks when Kageyama used his right arm to scratch an itch on his left shoulder, and steps closer to him.
Tobio looks down at his arm, right there on his forearm is carved some sort of symbol, probably one of the symbols Takinoue had seen on the trees.
"Holy shit," he whispers, gently tracing it with his fingers. "Are there any more?" Kageyama stands up and turns around, slipping the hospital gown enough to show his back, where a different, much bigger symbol was etched into his skin spread across his back.
Ukai wanted to throw up. Who the fuck could possibly do that to someone?
Kageyama slipped the gown back up and sat back down. It appears as though Kageyama's unfazed by it, but thats not the case, not at all.
"I'm sorry," Ukai says quietly, Tobio looks at him, a little confused.
"You called me that night, around 2am. But I must've put my phone on silent and didn't see the missed call until I woke up," he explains, sitting down on the bed next to the kid.
It surprised him, but Kageyama had given him a hug. Ukai wasn't sure if it was out of pity towards him, or if it was because Tobio was glad to see him, it could be both but either way, the hug had lasted a while.
"So uh, can you talk or did something happen to your voice?" He asks, curious as Kageyama still hasn't said a word.
Tobio grabs the sketchbook and scribbles something down: can talk. "just don't want to?" Kageyama shrugs, he didn't really know why he doesn't want to talk.
Ukai was about to ask another question when the door had opened. "Oh hello there," a nurse said, holding a plate. Tobio frowns. "Don't you make that face at me," she scolds, walking inside and closing the door.
"Here you go, lunch time," it wasn't much but Keishin guessed that they were slowly building up his stomach, as to not upset him.
She set the plate down next to him and as she predicted, he pushed it away. She huffs. "Good grief child, eat the damn food. Please do not make my job harder for me today."
Kageyama rolls his eyes at her. "I will force it down your throat in a second. Now eat. You need it. Only god knows what you've had in that forest,"
"And Him," he quietly says before eating some jello that had been the first time Ukai had heard him speak, since yesterday anyway, but he didn't want to count that. It had shocked him for a moment.
