Tobio wakes up early the next morning. far too early, his bedroom is dark aside from the night light that's on. The only thing indicating that it's early morning, is the clock on the nightstand, that read 5:27am.
He shuts his eyes, covering the blanket over himself and turning onto his side, desperately trying the ignore the feeling that someone-or something-is watching him.
Just as he's about to go back to sleep, someone enters his room, lightly shaking him awake. "Tobio." Takeda says. "Gotta wake up." Kageyama tries shoving him away, hiding under the blanket, peaking his head out a little, so he can breathe.
"You look tired, did you sleep last night?"
"Yes." He answers quietly. "Are you sure? It's okay if you haven't you know?"
"I'm sure."
"Okay. You wanna get up and have some breakfast?" Kageyama stays put for a second, knowing that he'll have to get up anyway, he heads out for breakfast. Despite the fact that he feels like he's about to throw up, Tobio forces it down.Shakily getting up, he goes to brush his teeth and put his uniform on. Coming back out, slowly and uncomfortably, he says Takeda putting some things away. "We still have plenty of time before school, did you want to go over to the gym?" He shrugs. "Oh here! I made you lunch."
No one has made him lunch in years, mainly because he didn't have anyone to do that. Most days he'd either grab a quick snack from the vending machine or didn't eat anything at all. He had no one to remind him, so he'd simply forget.
He clutched the lunchbox tightly, going still. He snaps out of it a minute later, putting it in his bag. "Grab your bag, let's go over to the gym." Kageyama slings the bag over his shoulders and putting his shoes on at the door.
Once the car unlocks, he hops into the passenger. He fiddles with his hands and the hem of his shirt until the car ends up parking, which feels like far too long and far too short at the same time, somehow.
Getting out, seeing the familiar place of the gym, makes him feel a little easier. "You okay?" Takeda asks, once again. Kageyama gives a small nod. "I told your teachers about you not talking, so you don't need to worry about talking and answering." He explains as they make their way over to the gym.
"Walking inside, he's greeted by a ball to the face. He sighs heavily, once he feels the blood dripping down. "Kageyama I am so, so sorry." Asahi apologizes. It's fine. Tobio writes. "Are sure, does that not hurt?"
Not really.
"But you're bleeding." Asahi insists. It's fine. Kageyama shakes him for emphasis.
"That's a school uniform!" Nishinoya yells, causing everyone else to notice. "Yeah, he goes back to school today." Coach Ukai answers. "Awesome!" Hinata says, standing next to Tobio, who shakes his head."You don't want to go back?" Ennoshita asks. Kageyama shakes his head. "Back to practice!" Coach yells, blowing his whistle, earning complaints from everyone.
"You wanna play?" Hinata asks, holding up a ball. Now he feels bad. He should've brought his practice clothes, although, to be fair, he was a ball of anxiety earlier, wanting to practice had not been on his mind.
No thanks. Hinata runs off, going back to practice.
Yachi and Kiyoko chose to sit near him, when they weren't helping out.
As school came closer, he became more and more anxious. His heartbeat grew faster, and his breathing became more uneven.
"You wanna talk?" Keishin says quietly next to him. Tobio shrugs again. He doesn't know what he wants right now. He can barely think.
"Lotta people at school. You nervous of being the gossip?" Kageyama doesn't answer him. "Ignore 'em if that happens. They don't know what you've been through. I know it sounds hard. You could also reinforce the gossip, make stuff up. Tell a different thing to anyone who asks." He suggests in a quiet voice.
He sits with him the rest of the practice, yelling and blowing his whistle when needed, from the bench.
When the time for school finally approached, knots started twisting and turning in his stomach aggressively.
They slowly made their way out of his stomach, to his throat and out into the bin, throwing up what little breakfast he had eaten.
Coach is rubbing his back sympathetically, giving him a tissue to wipe his mouth when finished.
