The nurse leaves, and they're once again alone with each other.
Keishin felt it was best to tell him what he had just discussed with the nurse.
"So I was talking to your nurse earlier," Kageyama looks up at him, wondering where this is going.
"She was saying how someone needed to help looking after you, so I said I'd be able to do it, is that something you're comfortable with?" He wanted to make sure that Kageyama was on board with this as much as he is.
Tobio nods, a little enthusiastically to make it look like he cared. "You're sure?" Another enthusiastic nod. Ukai gives a small smile and lightly ruffled his hair.
Things became quiet again as Kageyama sat there chewing the inside of his mouth.
"Look, I know you're probably wishing that whoever did this to you finished you off," Kageyama looks into his lap, ashamed of knowing that it's true, "but just know that we're really glad that you're alive. And we really did miss you."
Tobio hugged him again, something he clearly needed, so Ukai did what Takeda had done to him the previous night, gently rubbing circles.
