I sat in the studio, pressing keys on the electric piano. "Hm..."
Knock, knock.
"Come in," I called out without looking away from my notebook.
"What are you working on?"
I looked up in delight, easily recognizing the owner of the voice.
"Bada unnie!" I got up from my seat and ran over to give her a hug. "It's been such a long time!"
"Right? Your latest comeback was just amazing!" She pat my shoulder, "Joo-hyuk told me you wrote three of those five songs~"
I nervously laughed, "Well... Nam PD-nim really liked the concept about how rumors change from one mouth to another. And he was saying that you were busy and so... yeah." I shrugged, "It worked out."
"I know!" she exclaimed sitting down at the chair across from my work desk. "You won like... how many weeks again with that comeback? 17 consecutive weeks?"
"More or less."
"You are one crazy artist," it was a compliment. "You've won for every single comeback, it's crazy! I can't believe how fast time flies, already three years since debut~"
"And six comebacks~" I finished her sentence.
"And now you're working as a part time producer at OceanGold. Incredible!" she complimented. "Finally resting now though?"
I smiled and shook my head. "Well... I'm never really resting, am I?" I looked over to the electric keys and my notebook, as well as the guitar against the wall behind me. "Anyways, enough about me. How was New York? I listened to the song you wrote for that American artist! That song was just heavenly."
The famous lyricist smiled, "You even checked up on me? Feels nice."
Even as I tried to make it about Bada unnie, she always wound up talking about me. "I saw those dating scandals." She lowered her voice, "Are any of them true?"
I laughed and shook my head, "I have no time to be dating anyone. I'm busy working and going to the hospital."
"Oh right, how's that going? Your treatments, I mean."
"The doctor says I'm a lot better and I feel a lot better too. It's actually a bit surprising how it decided to slowly leave."
Bada unnie smiled, "It's not that it decided to leave, Yumi. Don't you get it? You fought against and you won."
I cocked my head to the side, using body-language to ask for an explanation.
"Actually putting in the actions to want and take care and cure your illness is sometimes hard for people and I'm sure it was hard for you at one point too. But you took it to the next level and put it into action and then the consistency you had with your treatment led you here."
Yumi nodded in understanding.
"Remember when you took that break in the middle of your promotions because you fainted on stage? I think it was for your album..."
"That one." I pointed to one of the posters on the wall. It was the tracklist for the album, "Keepsake: Memories."
Bada unnie nodded, "Yes, that one." She smiled feeling proud, "The one album my one and only composed song is in." She opened her mouth to say more, but closed it before saying anything else.
"Yes, unnie?"
She attentively looked at me for a while.
I sat there, confused and feeling a bit awkward.
