_______ Alice POV_______
Po stood in front of us while he removed his hat, looking at me and then at Matsuo. I remember back to the bar reminding myself that Matsuo said that out of everyone that Po would be the one to most likely kill me.
"I thought you left to see my father?" Matsuo questioned while tightening his arms around me.
I unconsciously grip the front of his shirt fearing for the worst. Through his shirt I can feel Matsuo's heartbeat strong and steady even in the midst of this situation. I don't know how he is remaining calm, but it is nice that at least one of us is.
"I reported to your father a week ago and he dispatched me back to New York." Po said with his gun in hand.
"You were in charge of this?" Matsuo said nodding back to the building.
Po sighed heavily shaking his head in disappointment. "I'm not in charge of this foolish operation, if I were you would not be standing there." Po's eyes are dark, and I don't doubt him for a second.
I grip Matsuo's shirt tighter as my head began to feel heavy all of a sudden. This caused him to look at me with concern or at least I think it was concern. couldn't really tell when my focus kept going in and out all of a sudden.
"So, what are you going to do now?" Matsuo asked pulling his eyes away from me.
Po took a step forward and I could feel Matsuo's heartbeat increase underneath my fingertips. If he was now getting nervous, then this must mean we're in trouble. I try to wiggle out of his arms, but Matsuo holds me tighter against him. He shoots me a glare silently warming me to be still. Which I have no choice when my head starts to throb painfully.
"What do you mean?" Po tucked away his gun into his holster and I relax. "I didn't see you here."
Po walks away in the opposite direction whistling a tune as he does so. Matsuo and I both breathe after holding our breaths for so long. I look up at him burying my face into his neck so he wouldn't see me cry. Matsuo stiffened releasing a shaky breath. He adjusted his hold on me before continuing on the the SUV'S with his me.
I kept my face in the crook of Matsuo neck as he carried me to the car. One of the guys opened the front passenger door where I'm placed. Matsuo grabbed the seatbeat and reached over to buckle me in. Even when I'm secure he still checked over me.
"I'm fine." I place a hand on top of his.
His eyes flickers to mine just before clearing his throat. He closed my door before walking around to the driver side and climbed in. Matsuo rolled down his window as one of the men approached.
"Take Zhen to a doctor and do what you can to clear this up with Aaron." Matsuo took the car out of park.
"Where are you going, sir?"
Matsuo glanced at me then back at his men, "to the summer house outside the city. Call the private number once Zhen is takin care of."
At that we peeled out of the parking lot on to a main road leading further away from the city.
"We have a long drive, so try to get some sleep." He told me.
I glance at him noticing that he looked like hell and needed sleep himself. Of course Matsuo would after what he's done to rescuing Zhen and I. He went through a lot of trouble to get us it seems. Even went against his father I'm assuming. He must really hate his father to go this far and retaliate against him.
"Um, thank you." I speak gaining Matsuo's attention.
He knitted his brows together, "for what?"
"For saving us, I-I didn't think you would."
When I admit my thoughts Matsuo gripped the steering wheel tight. I hope I didn't make him angry after all that we went through just now.
"I was always coming to get you."
My vision focused for a second when he spoke to my surprise.
Always?
This moment didn't feel real at all. After fighting with him at the penthouse, I really thought I pushed him over the edge and that he hated me. Look at me, I'm starting to care of what he thinks of me.
"I'm sorry for what I said," words poured out of me. "I didn't mean to compare you to your father."
"It's okay," he rushed out yet remained cool.
Sitting here apologizing to Matsuo must be due to head trauma from all of the beatings. None the less I feel better now that I've gotten that off my chest. Then my stomach began to flip.
"I'm also sorry for this."
Matsuo quickly looked at me when I lean forward puking on to the floor board.
The drive did take a while as Mat
Matsuo said and I somehow did fall asleep. The radio was turned on lulling me to sleep peacefully for the first time in days. I woke up when the car stopped at a house that's currently off from the world. There wasn't another house for miles as far as I could tell. It was in a private property surrounded by trees and fenced in by a stone wall.Matsuo is the first to get out walking to my side of the car and opened the door. However when I try to get out on my own he stopped me.
"Look unless you want me to puke on you to let me be, I'll manage."
My words fall on deaf ears when he helps me out of the vehicle anyway.
"I said-
Matsuo glared, "Shut up. I'm going to take care of you, besides you keep crossing your eyes and slurring when you speak. So, do as I say or else."
"Really, or else what?"
I challenge him but I finally hear myself slur. Maybe I'll listen to him for once and keep my mouth shut.
When Matsuo notices that I'm compliant, he picked me up again in his arms and carried me inside.
