______Alice POV_____
"Are you out of your mind, woman?" Matsuo yelled with boiling anger bubbling in his eyes.
He didn't quite expect to be tackled to the floor by me. In my defense, catching him off-guard seems to be the only way to get him to listen to me. It may have been in the heat of the moment and a rash idea, but he's going to hear me out.
"I'm completely sane. You, on the other hand, have lost your God damn mind." I straddled on top with him flat on his back and my hands holding him down by the shoulders. "Why are you running?"
He tries to sit. Unfortunately, I shove him back down. "Running from what?"
"From your friends," I throw my hands in the air. "How can you just walk away from Nanomi and Kenji like that?"
The elevator dinged when we arrived back at the penthouse. The doors slide open, and I can hear someone stifle a gasp. Looking back over my shoulder, is Len with a few other of Matsuo's men.
From where they're standing, I can see how this looks bad with me sitting on top of Matsuo.
I stood up, wiping my palms on the front of my pants staring back at the onlookers.
"What are you guys looking at, huh?"
The group of men all looked away and dispersed in different directions. That's the most awkward I've ever seen them behave, looking everywhere but at me.
Matsuo finally got up and exited the elevator while dusting off his clothes. I got the side eye as he walked by, followed by a mumble of Japanese words.
I'm not entirely sure why that ticked me off, but I had enough and opened my mouth.
"Why don't you translate that to English, asshole?" I puffed up my chest at him. "Stop hiding how you feel."
Speaking like that in front of his men surely set a blaze in his eyes. I'm starting to rethink my boldness, and there is nowhere for me to run. So I might as well stand my ground.
"What I said was that you are the most reckless and meddlesome woman I've ever met." Matsuo took me by surprise that he didn't flip out, well, not yet anyway. "Also, said you were an idiot."
In the last part, he stated that when brushing past me while walking to his room. I stood there with my mouth hanging open as Len snuck a glance at me. I narrowed my eyes into slits as a warning that he received rather quickly.
"Let's go." He nodded to the rest of the guys and began walking to the elevator.
The doors opened, and Zhen came rushing out. I had forgotten we left him behind on the lower floor.
"Why are you out of breath?" I questioned him as the others left.
"Are you kidding me, woman? After what you did, I was worried he killed you." Zhen explained.
I blew out a puff of air, "Don't worry, you still have your chance."
"Stop saying that. If I wanted you dead, I would have taken care of that a long time ago." He brushed me off so nonchalantly and moved on walking toward the office.
I was right behind Zhen like a shadow and followed him up the stairs. He sighed when I passed him up and walked to the bedroom. Which gave me enough time to beat him to the door when he realized what I was doing.
"No, don't you dare-
"Sorry, not sorry." I slammed the door right as he reached for the knob.
The door rattles when Zhen tries to barge in and fails when I lock it. I just need him to butt out for a second, Zhen takes Matsuo's side no matter if he's wrong or right.
