"What happens when you're patrolling, and you start to feel sick?" A young female with light brown curls asked. I looked at her with a warm smile.
"I can always tell what kind of day I am going to have when I wake up. If I wake up and know there is a possibility that I will be sick, I will find someone else to replace me on whatever task I have been assigned. If for some reason, I do start to feel sick, I leave immediately. I never patrol or go out on missions alone." I informed. "The safety of the citizens, my fellow heroes, and myself will always be my number one priority."
"Wouldn't it be easier if you retired?" Another reporter asked from the back of the room. I showed her a sad smile before taking a deep breath to calm myself.
"It would certainly be easier, yes. However, I've never been one to take it easy." I laughed lightly. "I will retire when the time is right."
"What makes you say it's not the right time right now?" She asked.
"Because I still have a lot of fight left in me." I replied simply. This press conference hasn't been a walk in the park. As soon as I arrived, I got brutally grilled.
"Can you tell us the relation between your expected death date and the U.A. Killer?" Someone asked from the back row. I let out a shaky breath. I was told to answer everything as honestly as I could, but where should I draw the line?
"Unfortunately, I can't." I frowned. "This is still an active and ongoing case, and saying anything could jeopardize our progress," I explained. Not only that, but we didn't have a definite answer.
"Are you guys making any progress?" Another person asked. "It seems like we're running out of heroes over here. If you guys can't protect us, who can?"
"We are making progress, but I cannot talk about the U.A. Killer any further than that," I said calmly. I always hated press conferences for this reason. These guys didn't know when to stop.
"What is the Hero Safety Commission doing to ensure your safety during your hero work?" Someone in the front row asked. I think that was the first question someone actually asked about my well-being. Even if it was another way to ask about my capability, it's nice to not feel like a villain for a minute.
"I will be patrolling with at least one other person, and my patrols will not be more than six hours long for the time being. When doing missions, my current health status will be taken into consideration when I am assigned an area. If there is any question about whether or not I can do it, I will not do it. If I have to ask myself if I can handle a task, someone else will take over. If I am unsure about it, I won't put myself or anybody else in the position of being harmed." I explained. I had a very short meeting with the commission before doing this conference. They explained what their plan of action was, and that was what I just relayed. It didn't matter, though. The most important thing was getting my license back, which I did.
"I think that's all the questions we have time for today." Taiko said, stepping onto the stage. "We want to thank everyone for coming out today. Any follow-up questions can be sent in by email, and we will answer them as soon as possible." He smiled. He nodded his head toward me and dismissed me. Even though the press conference has ended, the press will continue to ask questions until the police officially escort them out.
I walked off the stage and behind the giant curtain. I let out a sigh of relief, glad that it was finally over and I could get out of this suit. I brought my hand up and loosened my tie. It felt like it suffocated me the whole time, but it was mainly my anxiety. I was usually good with press conferences, but that was a nightmare. It was harder when the entire thing was focused on your and your capabilities. I would rather go through another three years of school with Aizawa before I do that again.
