Y/n's POV

"Who's it from?" Max questioned me when she noticed the letter drop into my hands.

"Uhm...It's from my mother, I'll read it later." I lied, they believed it. I tucked to letter into my bag and we all went on shopping and gossiping. But the fearful feeling overtook me and I couldn't possibly focus on anything else but why the hell the dark lord is writing to me.

~

We all left Hogsmeade a couple hours later an headed back to the castle. When we got in there we went to the Slytherin common room, my heart raced as I thought about opening the letter. I need to get away, I need to be in my dorm when I open it.

"Hey, guys, I'm gonna go package this drawing stuff in my dorm, I'll see you at dinner," I felt bad already lying to them after we just made up but it's for their own good. They both nodded and agreed and I headed up to my dorm, locking the door behind me.

I went over to my desk and sat down, with shaky hands I tore the red, wax seal off the yellow-tinted parchment. I took a deep breath before taking the letter out. I unfolded the parchment and the handwriting looked extremely familiar, I knew I'd seen it before.

It looked a lot like mine, though, too which weirded me out a bit.

I read the letter.

Y/n,
I am only writing to you to tell you that you an your twin brother are extremely important to me right now. You can not, under all circumstances, die. So, I've sent you a ring, this ring will keep you safe from any life threatening situations. This is not because of love, but for my sake as well as yours.
Now it is time you must know, you and your two brothers are the children of Estella Rookwood, but you never knew her maiden name, your mother was a Riddle. She is my twin. You are my only niece, and your brothers my nephews. Do not tell anyone this news, only the ones I have chosen to join me.
You and Kayden are very important, so wear this ring every day for the rest of your life.
All we eventually be revealed, Y/n, you have potential.
Lord Voldemort.

My hands shook violently. I can't be related to him, this can't be happening. I thought I finally had my family tree figured out but now all of the sudden I'm related to the Dark Lord?!

"No," I trembled, "No, this isn't happening, no, no...NO!" In a fit of fear and anger I screamed and threw a glass against my wall, it shattered onto my floor. My entire life has been a lie and I keep figuring out more things that contribute to that. When does this end? When will I ever know the whole truth?

Inside the envelope was a ring, it had a snake engraved into it and it looked like something you would buy at the jewelry section in Borgin and Burkes. I picked up the ring but didn't put it on yet, I was a it unsure about it. So I tucked it in my pocket.

I felt like crying, but I couldn't, I need to find Kayden.

I stood up and left everything in my dorm. Kayden is the only one who I can go to right now, nobody else can know about this. I left my dorm and rushed down the stairs, desperate to find Kayden.

I left the common room and began to run through the halls, I knew where I was headed: Ravenclaw Tower.

As I ran all that went through my head was what the hell is the truth? Why is something always missing? When will I be told the full truth?

I absentmindedly sped up, but I was soon stopped because I ran into somebody who was also running. We both fell to the hard floor with groans of pain. I looked to see who it was and saw Kayden.

"Kayden! I really need to talk to you, it's super important," I exclaimed, still forcing myself not to cry, I stood up and grabbed his hand, hoisting him up as well.
