Y/n's POV

"So, this summer has been rather...tragic for you and your friends, Y/n. I understand that your brothers death is taking it's toll, and I do not expect you to be open to speaking about it, healing from something like this takes time. And I've been told of you living in the Malfoy Manor, along with your brothers, Draco Malfoy, and Maxine Lestrange. But you were...rescued by the Order of the Phoenix. Where did you stay after that?" Newt starts our talk.

"The Weasley's home, Molly Weasley took in Kayden and I, and Draco and Max went to their aunt Andromeda's house." I tell him.

"Why was escaping necessary?"

I swallow hard before speaking, wondering where to start.

"Last term when I came back from Christmas break with that terrible head wound and covered in bruises...I hadn't fallen down the stairs. Estella Rookwood, my mother, is living with the Malfoys and she got angry with me for...I can get to that later, but you asked me months ago if someone did that to me...and it was her."

His lips part slightly a crease forms between his eyebrows.

"How come you lied?" he asks softly.

"Because to tell you the full truth I'd have to tell you where my mother was hiding...and I was scared." I admit. "But now there's nothing anyone can do about her being out of Azkaban, I should have told you, I know, I regret not having done so, but..."

"It's alright." He comforts, "What matters is you've told me now."

"But you can't get the ministry to arrest her again, she's technically free now."

"You wont ever have face your mother again, Y/n. You're not going back to her care." I almost scoffed at the word care, because if that was care then no one is safe. "Now, why was your mother upset with you?"

"Before I show you...please know that I was never given a choice." I tell him and pull up the sleeve on my right arm, staring at the floor. Newt gasps sharply at first, but then eases.

"You're parents forced this upon you?" he asks, I nod. "And I'm assuming your friends are as well?" I nod again. "Oh, Y/n...I'm so sorry this has happened. It's not your fault if it was by force. I do not blame you."

I nod once more, having no words.

"This bloody mark has ruined my life," I whisper, "I want it gone. I'm not a death eater, I'm not, but this mark...every day it's a reminder of what I've done...I joined forces with the Order, but I still feel like a monster."

"You're no monster, Y/n. You mustn't believe you're evil, because I see past that mark, and beneath it is a a girl, so young, who never had a choice."

"When will it end? This war? I want to live like I used to..."

"No one can answer your question, and I apologize for that. But we're working for it."

I nod and stare at the floor again.

"There's an old friend who wants to see you," Newt says, standing up. I look up from the ground and watch as he opens his suitcase, out jumps Teddy the Niffler and he runs to me, into my arms bringing a smile to my face despite the previous conversation.

"Hi," I whisper as Teddy grabs for my silver earring. Newt smiles watching Teddy and I.

"Do you want to see the others?" he asks me, I look up and nod my head yes.

"C'mon, you can't stay mad at me forever." Draco calls through my closed door. "You weren't serious about a year-long silent treatment? I wrote back! Why are you ignoring me? It's been days."
